Reasons for the price hike

The main reason behind the price hike remains the higher GST slab. Motorcycles with engine capacities above 350 cc fall under the 40% GST bracket, significantly increasing their overall price. Bajaj Auto, which manufactures KTM motorcycles in India for KTM AG, had reportedly been absorbing part of the tax burden since September to keep the prices competitive. Now this subsidy has been withdrawn. The cost is now being passed to buyers. The revision increases the gap between the KTM 390 Duke and the KTM 250 Duke to roughly 1.22 Lakhs.

KTM 390 Bikes Price Hike – Verdict

The significant price jump for these bikes pushes them into the premium single-cylinder segment, with on-road prices of nearly 4 Lakh in many cities. The pricing may prompt buyers to consider alternatives. The competition has intensified, as the 390 Adventure X now sits closer to rivals like the Royal Enfield Himalayan, prompting them to reconsider their decision. The 350cc GST threshold continues to distort pricing for performance motorcycles in India. So KTM is expecting to bring in a sub-350cc and take advantage of it. So that the models are placed under 18% GST bracket. But, despite the hike, the 390 platform remains one of the most powerful and tech-loaded single-cylinder packages in the segment.
