Maruti SUV Price Leaked!

This SUV is set to be Maruti’s most ambitious project yet, and it has already made a huge mistake. The eVitara will be Maruti’s first-ever electric car in India. Although it was unveiled a long time ago, Maruti has yet to announce its official pricing or launch date. But accidentally, the price of the e-Vitara has been leaked on its website.

On Nexa’s official website, as well as on some of its dealers’ websites, the eVitara displayed a Rs 24.79 lakh (ex-showroom) price tag. Now, the leaked price is not the only goof-up the Maruti has made. The high price of the eVitara has raised major concerns among people, and here’s why.

Why Would You Buy It?

On the website, this price tag was shown for the Alpha variant, Maruti’s top-of-the-line model. After registration and other costs, On-road pricing could easily cross Rs 26 lakh, which creates a dilemma: why would people buy it over its rivals? For the same price, you could get a top-end Creta electric, or feature-packed variants of the XEV 9E, BE6 or the Harrier EV. All of the above-mentioned cars boast better features and practicality. In fact, for a similar price, you could get the 79kWh XEV 9E or a 75kWh Harrier EV. Both these cars are more feature-loaded, have better power and range figures and are significantly more practical.

The pricing for the lower variants has yet to be revealed, and if Maruti wants to compete in this tough electric SUV market, it would need to offer aggressive introductory prices on the lower variants.

Features and Specifications

The leaked pricing is expected to be for the 61kWh (170 bhp & 193 Nm) battery pack. The lower variants would feature a 49kWh battery pack (142 bhp & 193 Nm). The 61kWh pack has a claimed range of 543 km. Meanwhile, the official specifications for the 49kWh pack have yet to be announced.

The feature list includes Level-2 ADAS, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, ventilated and powered front seats, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, etc.

Maruti must have seen the online reaction to these leaks and has now hidden the eVitara’s pricing. If Maruti Suzuki wants to compete in this segment, it would need to lower the price of the top variant or offer attractive pricing on its lower variants. If Maruti doesn’t change the pricing on the official launch, would you buy it over its rivals? Let us know your thoughts below.
