Vespa Officina 8 Special Edition Launch Price Rs 1.34 Lakh

The Vespa Officina 8, offered with both 125cc and 150cc engines, will be available in a matte metallic Blue Officina 8 paint shade

Piaggio India has launched the Vespa Officina 8 at a sticker price of Rs 1.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra) in the country. The special-edition scooter is a tribute to its experimental test centre in the Piaggio plant in Pontedera, Italy. Offered with both 125cc and 150cc engines, Vespa Officina 8 gets a matching helmet as a standard along with a complimentary welcome kit for every owner. The first Vespa took shape at the Officina 8 experimental workshop in Pontedera, Italy, which was established in 1944.

Vespa Officina 8 special-edition scooter is presented in a matte metallic Blue Officina 8 paint shade, which has been specifically developed for this series and inspired by the tools, machinery and workwear of the original workshop. The steel body comes with metallic rivets, brass and aluminium tones. It will be available at select Vespa dealerships across India.

Piaggio India has also introduced a line of dedicated high end merchandise and accessories with the Vespa Officina 8. The customers receive a Top Box that is finished in the same industrial matte tone as the rest of the machine. In addition, various other high end merchandise of windbreakers, hoodies, T-shirts, backpacks and key chains carrying Officina 8 insignia is also available.

The company is also giving away an owner’s book, specially crafted in tin, on the purchase of the Officina 8 which traces the special-edition scooter’s roots to the vision, ambition and dedication that originally crafted the Vespa some eight decades ago. Just so you know, the first patent for the Vespa scooter was filed from the Officina 8 facility in 1946.

Some of the key highlights of the first Vespa scooter were step-through steel frame, two-stroke engine, direct-drive transmission and handlebar-mounted gear control. Officina 8 continued to operate as a dedicated experimental workshop where a select team of engineers, designers, tinsmiths, and mechanics collaborated away from regular production lines to develop new concepts, test prototypes, and refine engineering solutions.
