The current Triumph 400 line-up includes five models namely Speed 400, Speed T4, Scrambler 400X, Thruxton 400 and Scrambler 400 XC
Triumph India has achieved the sales milestone of 1 lakh units in the country. It has retailed more than 1 lakh units of its 400cc motorcycles which includes the Speed 400, Speed T4, Scrambler 400X, Thruxton 400 and Scrambler 400 XC. Developed locally in partnership with Bajaj Auto at the Pune factory, these bikes are shipped globally to 18 countries, including Japan, Australia, Mexico, Taiwan and South Korea. Launched in mid 2023, it has taken nearly 2.5 years for the Triumph 400 bikes to touch the 1 lakh units sales mark.
Speaking on the achievement, Manik Nangia, President, Probiking, Bajaj Auto, said, “Reaching 1 lakh Triumph motorcycles on Indian roads within just 2.5 years is a proud milestone for us. Triumph customers are discerning riders who have strongly endorsed our engineering with our modern classic motorcycles. The brand has always been built for those who know the difference, and we remain committed to strengthening our premium ecosystem and deepening our engagement with riders across the country.”
Triumph was one of the most badly hit brands in Sep 2025 when the Union government in India rolled out the GST 2.0 as its entire portfolio comprises of bigger engine bikes beyond 350cc. The company, though, absorbed the impact of GST overhaul initially due to the festive season but everyone knew that it is an interim measure and at some point, the prices of these bikes will be increased.
The revamped GST structure increased the tax on bikes with engine capacity above 350cc from the existing 31 percent to 40 percent. Therefore, the prices of Triumph’s 400cc bikes also went up by a few thousands to offset this GST hike. However, despite the hike in price, the Speed 400, Scrambler 400X and Speed T4 have been clocking decent monthly sales volumes.
If we take a look at Jan 2026 sales, Triumph sold a total of 4,792 units of the 400 bikes with a YoY growth of 19 percent as 4,035 units were retailed in Jan 2025. The growth in MoM sales was even higher at 62 percent because 2,958 units were sold in Dec 2025. Hence, as we mentioned earlier, there is barely any effect of the GST hike and subsequent price increase on the sales volumes.
Triumph and Bajaj are working on introducing a new 350cc line-up of bikes to enjoy the lower GST benefits. For those asking, bikes with engine capacity below 350cc attract GST of 18 percent, down from earlier 28 percent. Hence, Triumph is introducing a 350cc engine to price its bikes aggressively and take on the segment-leader Royal Enfield. Rajiv Bajaj, MD of Bajaj Auto, confirmed that Triumph 350cc bikes will reach the showrooms in April 2026.
