1. Tata Punch – Best-Selling SUVs March 2026

In March 2026, the Tata Punch dominated the SUV market with 20,977 units, including petrol, CNG, and electric versions. In just 4 years, it has surpassed 7 lakh cumulative sales, a feat few small SUVs in India have achieved. The 18.42% year-over-year growth indicates that buyer demand will not decline. The starting price for a Tata Punch is 6.68 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

3. Hyundai Creta – Best-Selling SUVs March 2026

Last month, 17,838 Hyundai Cretas were sold. The slight 1.22% year-over-year drop is not indicative of weakness; rather, it reflects the highly competitive midsize SUV market, where several newer competitors are vying for consumers’ attention. By every norm, surpassing 17,000 units in a single month is still a great achievement.  

The Creta was an important factor in Hyundai’s record-breaking quarterly domestic sales of 1,66,578 units in Q4 FY2026. The starting price is 12.60 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

4. Maruti Suzuki Brezza

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza recorded 16,130 units in March 2026, a marginal 2.51% year-on-year decline. Despite the dip, it held firmly in fourth place. A facelift is reportedly under development, which could revive its numbers in the months ahead.

The Brezza is India’s longest-running compact SUV nameplate. It comes with engine options of 1.5L Petrol with Mild Hybrid and CNG. In March 2026, 15,540 Maruti Fronx units were delivered, a remarkable 13.69% increase from the previous year. Customers are strongly responding to its coupe-SUV design language and turbocharged engine choice at a reasonable price point, as evidenced by its being one of the strongest growth stories on our list. The starting price of this SUV is 8.01 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

This is the only body-on-frame SUV priced higher than most rivals in this list. Mahindra, as a brand, posted 25% year-on-year growth in March 2026, with the Scorpio range a key contributor.

The Scorpio’s body-on-frame, rear-wheel-drive character remains irreplaceable for a specific and loyal buyer segment. 7. Kia Sonet – Best-Selling SUVs March 2026

Perhaps the most notable number on this list is the Kia Sonet’s 55.90% year-over-year rise. In March 2026, it sold 12,012 units, compared to 7,705 in March 2025. The introduction of a new automatic gearbox type, which greatly increased its appeal, especially among purchasers hoping for an automatic diesel alternative at a starting price of Rs 8.60 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), is directly responsible for the jump.
