But, they would be wrong. India has slowly begun to accept EVs, and people are willing to buy one despite common perceptions of range anxiety and resale value. You would be shocked to know that some EVs are selling more units than some popular SUVs. Let us look at some numbers to see how successful EVs have actually become.

7. Mahindra BE6


Who doesn’t know about the BE6? Its striking looks have pleased many true petrol heads as well, and the sales figures back that up: 1,028 units sold last month. These are better figures than those of the rather conventional and cheaper Taigun and Kushaq.
Along with the looks, its feature list and powertrain options are big selling points. It is packed with features such as a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, an ADAS suite, a Dolby Atmos sound system, wireless charging, ventilated and powered front seats, and much more.
It is offered with 2 pack options: a 59kWh (170bhp & 380Nm) and a 79kWh (210bhp & 380Nm). The claimed range figures are 557km and 683km, respectively. The BE6 is priced between Rs 20.04 lakh and Rs 29.39 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Best-Selling EVs – 6. Tata Curvv.ev


Tata has been offering heavy discounts on the Curvv.ev as of late, and it shows with the sales figures. Tata sold 1,100 units of the Curvv EV last month. These figures are better than its ICE variants, which sold around 566 units,
It gets features like Level-2 ADAS, electric tailgate, wireless charging, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, and much more. As for the powertrain, it is offered with 45kWh (148bhp & 215Nm) and 55kWh (165bhp & 215Nm) packs. The 45kWh pack has a claimed range of 430km, and the 55kWh has a range of 502km.
The Curvv.ev is priced between Rs 18.39 lakh and 23.29 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Tata is offering major discounts of up to Rs 3.8 lakh, which makes the EV variant a more value-for-money alternative to the ICE Curvv.

5. Tata Tiago.ev


The Tiago.ev was Tata’s first attempt at an electric vehicle. While it was first introduced only as a fleet vehicle, its popularity slowly caught on with the general public as well. Its sales have been going strong ever since its official launch in 2022. Moreover, it sold 1,223 units last month. The Tiago.ev is priced between Rs. 8.34 lakh and Rs 11.68 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai), making it one of the cheapest EVs in the market. It makes sense why the Tiago.ev is still popular despite minimal updates over the years.
Compared to some of Tata’s other models, the feature list is pretty bare-bones. You get equipment like a 7-inch infotainment screen, a reverse parking camera, a digital instrument cluster, follow-me-home headlamps, a cooled glovebox, and push-button start and cruise control. But you must also keep in mind that it is significantly cheaper than other EVs.
It is offered with a 19.2kWh (63bhp & 110 Nm) and a 24kWh (74bhp & 114Nm) battery pack. The claimed range figures are 250km and 315km, respectively.

Best-Selling EVs – 4. Mahindra XEV 9e


This is Mahindra’s most popular EV. And the sales figures confirm this statement. It sold 1,945 units last month, making it Mahindra’s best-selling electric SUV. It is also Mahindra’s most expensive SUV, priced between Rs. 23.18 lakh and Rs 33.30 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), making its sales figures even more impressive.
It is packed to the brim with features. Some of these features include Level-2 ADAS, three 12.3-inch screens, a 360-degree camera, a powered tailgate, wireless charging, ventilated and powered front seats, a Dolby Atmos sound system and much more.
With the XEV 9e, you get the same battery pack options as the BE6 – a 59kWh and a 79kWh pack. 59kWh (170bhp & 380Nm) and a 79kWh (210bhp & 380Nm). The claimed range figures are 542km and 656km, respectively.

3. Tata Harrier.ev


The Harrier.ev has received quite an impressive response, selling a respectable 1,995 units last month. Interestingly, it sold more than its ICE sibling.
With the Harrier.ev, you get a long equipment list. This list includes Level-2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, 540-degree parking camera, powered tailgate, 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, 14.5-inch infotainment screen, 7-airbags and much more. It is offered with 65kWh (235bhp & 315Nm) and 75kWh (309bhp & 504Nm) packs. The 65kWh pack can reach 538km on a single charge, while the 75kWh pack can reach 627km. Moreover, it also gets an AWD drivetrain option.
If you are planning to buy one, the Harrier.ev costs between Rs 23.02 lakh and 31.96 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Best-Selling EVs – 2. MG Windsor


The Windsor was the king of EVs last year, selling the most units. But it has now had a rough start to 2026 as it has been dethroned. It fell back to the second spot, selling 2,567 units last month. Nevertheless, it was MG’s best-selling car last month, outselling all other ICE models by a big margin.
MG has loaded the Windsor with features such as a massive 15.6-inch infotainment screen, panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, powered driver’s seat, wireless charging, level-2 ADAS, 360-degree parking camera, 8.8-inch digital driver’s display, etc. The powertrain options include a 38kWh (134bhp & 200Nm) and a 52.9kWh (134bhp & 200Nm) battery pack. The claimed range figures for these packs are 332km and 449km.
The Windsor is priced between Rs 15.04 lakh and Rs 19.78 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). But if you feel the price exceeds your budget, you can opt for a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme, where the vehicle costs around Rs 10.5 lakh to Rs 14.5 lakh, and you pay between Rs 3.9/km and Rs 4.5/km, depending on the variant you choose.

1. Tata Nexon.ev


By now, you would have probably expected the Nexon.ev to top this list. The Nexon ICE was the best-selling car last month, and its EV sibling posted a similar performance, becoming India’s best-selling EV. It tops the sales list by recording 3,098 units sold.
The comprehensive feature list is a key reason why people love the Nexon. It comes with features such as a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, Level-2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, ventilated and powered front seats, wireless charging, etc. As for the powertrain, it is offered with a 30kWh (127 bhp & 215 Nm) and 45kWh (143 bhp & 215 Nm). The smaller battery pack has a claimed range of 325km, while the long-range 45kWh trim can touch 489km on a single charge.
It is also priced attractively at Rs 13.22 lakh and Rs 18.56 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The Nexon.ev arguably offers the best value for money in the EV SUV segment, and it makes sense why it has topped this list.
