With plenty of 7-seaters available at the price point touching Rs 15 lakh, it certainly becomes difficult to choose one. But, don’t worry anymore, as today we will be dwindling around certain pros and cons of some 7-seater that fit in this budget! So, let’s directly hop on to it –
7-seater Under Rs 15 Lakh – Renault Triber

The Renault Triber stands as the cheapest option in the 7-seater segment. The MPV carries a price ranging between Rs 6.76 lakh and Rs 10.02 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Pros –
- The cheapest 7-seater, so it won’t harm your pocket.
- Renault offers dealer level CNG retrofitment, a good option for someone who looks out for mileage.
- Good to use as a daily ride, even after being a 7-seater it is very compact making it fairly easy to be driven in the city.
- Removable 3rd-row seats option for someone who is looking to maximise the bootspace
Cons –
- The NA petrol engine feels lagged on the highways, you will feel the lack of power during overtakes.
- A turbo petrol option was indeed needed, which we expected to come with the facelift but it didn’t. It would be a good deal if Renault offers the Kiger’s 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine.
- 7-seater on the brochure, but the 3rd-row seats are comfortable only for kids, it is frantic for adults.

Citroen Aircross X

A brand that we do not include in our buying preference usually, but the Aircross X can be a good deal for someone looking to spend around Rs 15 lakh on a 7-seater. The Aircross X is currently carrying a price tag ranging between Rs 9.75 lakh and Rs 14.90 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Pros –
- When we talk about Citroen, we must mention the ride quality. It offers a plush ride-quality, thanks to its suspension setup
- Just like the Renault Triber, the Aircross X too gets the option to remove the third-row seats that too in 20 seconds, which eventually adds on practicality.
- Triber misses out on offering a turbo petrol engine, but Citroen offers it. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine gives out a good performance. It is tractible, smooth and responsive.
- Recently the model scored a 5-star rating at the Bharat NCAP, so there’s no compromise on safety.
Cons –
- Availability of dealerships and service networks is very less.
- To keep up with the cost, Citroen’s cost-cutting method easily crumbles the premiumness of this model

7-seater Under Rs 15 Lakh – Maruti Ertiga

The king of the affordable 7-seater segment is undoubtedly the Maruti Ertiga. The Ertiga is currently priced between Rs 10.34 lakh & Rs 15.36 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) with the top-spec trim placed slightly above the Rs 15 lakh mark.
Pros –
- Maruti Ertiga has a good overall cabin space in this price point, so you get comfortable seating.
- It is one of the best proven long distance cars, even after being equipped with 3-row seating, the car is easy to drive on the highways and city roads.
- Maruti cars are known for offering good mileage, and the Ertiga too comes on the list. Alongside, there’s an option for a CNG too, so you can get even more mileage!
Cons –
- Despite Maruti currently offering some 5-star safe cars, the Ertiga’s safety is still debatable.
- The CNG cylinder will surely deliver a better mileage, but it will hinder your boot space fully.
- The interior feels outdated, some new features should be added on this model to make this deal more lucrative.

Kia Carens Clavis

The Carens Clavis stands as a premium option, along with a good overall design for someone who craves for it. The price of this 7-seater starts from Rs 13.13 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) however, there are only 3 trims included under the tag of Rs 15 lakh!
Pros –
- A premium option with better tech and features than the others stated here.
- Actually usable 3rd-row space, which adds to its practicality.
- Even though only 3 trims come under the Rs 15 lakh price tag, you still get all the powertrain options to choose from – NA petrol, turbo petrol and diesel!
- The diesel option is good for someone craving fuel efficiency, the turbo petrol delivers punchy performance.
Cons –
- After a certain price point, the Clavis might feel overpriced, as even the Mahindra XUV700’s price starts from Rs 16.8 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
- Kia has prioritised on offering maximum space on the third-row, and in this it has hampered the second row seating a bit.
- While the model gets better turbo petrol and diesel engines, the NA petrol unit seems to lag behind on long rides.
- For buyers with budget constraints, the Clavis offers only the manual gearbox option with its engines in the base 3 trims.

Mahindra Bolero / Bolero Neo

Yes, the Mahindra’s rugged duo Bolero and Bolero Neo also stand to be amongst the affordable 7-seater options. The prices for Bolero ranges between Rs 9.54 lakh & Rs 11.56 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) and that of the Bolero Neo ranges between Rs 10.16 lakh & rs 12.71 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)
Pros –
- Both the SUVs offer a robust build and a rugged stance, good for buyers who crave road presence.
- Both these are very easy to maintain, the spares too are very cheap and even local mechanics can repair them. So more savings.
- The regular Bolero is majorly used in rural India, where they need some capable SUV to do the job.
Cons –
- There are many concerns regarding the safety of this SUV, which keep many away from these models.
- It seems Mahindra wants to keep its old values, and that’s why the interiors of the SUVs feel outdated.
- The SUVs only get a manual gearbox option.
