Best-selling car of the year –

Don’t get us wrong! The Dzire is indeed the best-selling car of 2025. But today, we are talking about an entirely different segment where Maruti is yet to create its presence. We are talking about the booming EV segment, which has seen substantial growth in recent years. The EV segment gained popularity mainly because of Tata Motors, Hyundai & Mahindra. However, one car brand has managed to shake the three giants mentioned with just one product! It is India’s favourite EV – the MG Windsor EV!
Talking of which, in the calendar year 2025, MG managed to sell 46,735 units of the Windsor EV! With such an impressive sales figure, the Windsor overtook some of the popular EVs like the Nexon.ev, Punch.ev and the Creta EV. Nexon.ev has always been popular for the safety & VFM proposition it offered. Despite this, the Windsor EV has emerged as a Nexon-killer, with monthly sales of 3000-4000 units. So, what exactly makes the Windsor EV a desirable product among the masses?

Why MG Windsor EV?

What made the Windsor EV an instant attraction is the spacious cabin. The Windsor is longer than the Nexon.ev and has a larger wheelbase. To enhance the comfort of the already spacious cabin, MG offered the Windsor EV with 135-degree reclining rear seats. Apart from the comfort, MG, being MG, packed the Windsor EV with an impressive feature list. The Windsor EV gets features like – Level 2 ADAS, a 15.6-inch touchscreen system, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and more.
But to make an EV a successful product, offering features & making it spacious is not the only winning formula. It has to offer a respectable driving range. For which, MG offers two battery pack options with the Windsor EV –
- a 38 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 332km.
- a 52.9 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 449km.
And interestingly, both these battery packs offer pretty close claimed range in real-life conditions.

The Sweet Spot!

Now, with all the mentioned offerings, anyone would easily mistake the Windsor EV as an expensive product. Well, this is another aspect that MG has absolutely nailed. Although it is a size larger than the Nexon.ev, MG has priced the Windsor EV very aggressively. The best-selling EV of 2025 is currently priced between Rs 15.04 lakh & Rs 19.69 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). So yes, MG has ticked many boxes to make the Windsor EV a successful product. In the coming time, we can expect more such VFM products from MG.
