MG Hector CNG-

Last year, MG Motors released a refreshed 2026 edition of the Hector. With some cosmetic changes, it only go minor noticeable change inside the car. The MG Hector was criticised for offering unreal fuel efficiency in the single digits. To improve this, has MG Motors secretly launched another powertrain option with the facelift without anyone knowing?
No, MG is not the one behind this Hector. We came across an MG Hector from Saifuel Vadodara. Yes, this a aftermarket CNG conversion for the Hector. Fade up with the poor fuel efficiency of the petrol Hector. Before MG Motors could even think of it, Indians had come up with the MG Hector CNG. How has Saifuel Vadodara made it possible?
We already know that CNG fitment is not just plug-and-play in most of the SUVs. Certain modifications are needed to the stock car. So, to make a non-CNG car run on CNG, you need to install different connectors and injectors, and, to make everything work right, the new ECU. And above all this, you have to run the fuel lines from the engine bay to the CNG tank, which will eventually go into your boot. What changes after this modification?

Effect Of CNG – MG Hector CNG conversion

The host Saifuel Vadodara has been testing Hector with CNG for some time now. On the positive side, the fuel efficiency of the 1.5-litre turbo petrol (141bhp, 250Nm) has improved drastically, with this Hector delivering 25.7km per kg of CNG(on highway). Which is way better than the real-world mileage, which drops below 10 kmpl. Before you go crazy about this mileage, hear out some of the negatives of this conversion. First and foremost, not much, but a considerable amount of boot space has been eaten up by the CNG tank in the boot. Also, the engine might experience long-term side effects if not properly maintained. Side effects include increased engine wear and tear during long runs.
After hearing all of this, would you get this aftermarket CNG kit to improve the poor fuel efficiency of your Hector?
