Mahindra Doubles Its Success

You might be wondering, how has Mahindra taken over the number 1 spot in sales? What happened to the Creta or the Nexon? Well, this Mahindra SUV has surpassed them by a wide margin to claim the number-one spot in EV sales. We are talking about the Mahindra XEV 9S, and yes, it outsold the Creta electric, Nexon EV and the best-selling EV of 2025, the MG Windsor. The 9S manages 3539 units in sales, which is 900 units more than the second place and 1,100 units more than the 3rd place.

And this success has translated into a substantial increase in Mahindra’s EV sales. Mahindra sold a total of 7,168 units last month, putting it in the second spot for EV sales just behind Tata. What makes this figure impressive is that Mahindra sold 3,660 EVs in January, representing a whopping 96% increase in sales. It was 5,000 units behind Tata in January and has cut down this gap to just 800 units in February.

But with the success of 9S, sales of the BE6 and 9E have faltered slightly. It is doubtful that the fall in its sales will worry Mahindra for now, and they will revel in the success.

XEV9S Sales – What Makes It So Special?

The key reason for its success has been its practicality. It offers the same feature list, more battery options, and an additional row of seats than the 9E, while costing a similar price. Unless looks are your priority, it is a no-brainer to pick the 9S over the 9E.

Furthermore, the price gap between the 7XO and the 9S isn’t steep, so you can pick the EV alternative at a similar cost while saving on running costs. Its a win-win for prospective Mahindra customers.
