Bike Price Hike – What’s Cooking?

Every year, automobile manufacturers increase prices of the models citing increase in input costs for production. At present, bike makers like Aprilia, Ather and some more have already announced a certain price hike on their two-wheelers. In the mix, other popular brands Bajaj & Triumph might also announce about increasing the prices.
We already know, Bajaj has held the prices of its 400 series Dominar and N models, 390 KTM series (excluding ADVs) and all 400cc Triumph models despite the new GST rates levied. However, we had already suggested that this price hold is not expected to be forever, but for a limited time period.

So, the Indian bike maker might just increase the price of the models by the start of the new year. Now, unlike other brands, which might just increase the price by a few percent, Bajaj on its own & Triumph & KTM models might levy a heavy price hike. This is majorly to confiscate the losses due to GST tax holds. So, if you are planning to buy a Triumph, Bajaj or even street naked KTMs then you would need to plan a bit aggressively by looking at the upcoming price hike.
Although the price hike hasn’t been confirmed by the brand at present. But, some insiders suggest that it might be around the corner and a new year jump might be the perfect opportunity for the brand to hike the prices.

How Much Price Could Be Increased?

Now, you might be wondering about the new costing, right? So, we talked to some insiders, and they suggested a price hike on Triumph 400cc models. That said, we will be talking about a possible hike on the Speed 400 – the bike currently costs Rs 3 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) but after the hike, the bike might make you pay more Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 with the hike. This was for the Speed 400, while the other 400cc Triumph will also be on the same setup, the Scrambler 400x might now get sold at the current price of Scrambler 400XC and XC will be more expensive.
In the same way, the Bajaj 400 series models and KTM street naked 390cc models might also see a price hike.

Should You Wait For 350cc?

Just after the new GST structure, Bajaj announced a scaling down of the 400cc models of its own, Triumph and KTMs to get categorised under the sub-350cc segment. The development is currently underway, but the brand has not announced a proper launch timeline of the same. According to us, launching the same models in 2026 might make good sense as it can eventually increase the sales of the models.
However, it is currently not known when exactly these models will be launched in India. Now, if you can wait for a good time for the brands to announce about these models, and launch it – then we can suggest you to wait if there’s not a proper replacement that you think is present in the market currently. Else, you can go with other models that are in the same category, or even if you like the Bajaj/ Triumph/ KTM models, and can pay the increased price then you can go for it. As they are good bikes surely at the cost.
Moreover, if you are someone who doesn’t care about resale value and can buy even in this month. There’s nothing stopping you, buy the bike and have a safe riding!
