We all know that the Tata group owns Jaguar-Land Rover. And Tata even made the most of it when it launched the Harrier, which is based on the Evoque’s platform. And now, with its much-anticipated upcoming model, we could see Tata make the most of this partnership. And here’s how.

Upcoming Tata SUV!
Tata has done well in the sub-30 lakh segment, and now it has shown ambition to go further. The Avinya brand will be Tata’s step into the world of luxury cars, and it has left a lot for us to imagine. Tata has remained secretive about the development of the first car under the Avinya badge, but we have dug up some information about its upcoming car.

The first car to be sold under the new Avinya badge is expected to be the Avinya X, a fully electric luxury SUV that would sit at the top of the Tata hierarchy. And from what we know, it would be heavily influenced by JLR technology, even using their platform.

Tata Avinya X – All New Platform

The Avinya X will use JLR’s Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA platform). Both companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under which the automakers will enter into an Engineering Service Agreement (ESA) to produce Avinya vehicles.
This platform has been specifically designed by JLR to accommodate its future electric SUVs. Similarly, we expect the Avinya X to use the same battery pack options as future JLR EVs. With the Avinya X, you can proudly boast that you own a luxury SUV with the dynamics of a Range Rover. And when you factor in Tata’s aggressive pricing policy, it sounds like a deal too good to be true.
Given it’s a JLR platform, we expect it to have basic off-road capabilities at the very least. Moreover, the platform is likely to be safe and would score high in NCAP tests.

Tata Avinya X – Expected Features

The similarities between the Avinya and JLR vehicles do not end there. Tata displayed the concept of the Avinya X, and its interiors heavily resemble those of Range Rover SUVs. The minimalist dashboard layout and the angled infotainment screen scream Range Rover.
Since it will be Tata’s most premium product, we expect it to be loaded with features. Some expected features include a panoramic sunroof, a 540-degree camera, Level 2+ ADAS, ventilated and powered front seats with massaging and memory functions, etc. The cabin will also have an abundance of high-quality materials for a more luxurious appeal.

Range Rover On A Budget?

By no means would the Avinya X be cheap, as it. But when compared to Range Rovers and Jaguars, it would be a bargain. It is expected to be priced between Rs 30 lakhs and Rs 40 lakhs. And this would be the cheapest way to get Range Rover or Jaguar tech on a new car.
Tata recently began production of JLR vehicles at its new Panapakkam facility in Tamil Nadu, where the Avinya X models are also expected to be manufactured. Tata had faced major issues with component supplies for not only the Avinya X, but also for JLR models. It faced significant difficulties in locally producing the Avinya X., but with the start of production at this new plant, the signs are positive for the Avinya as well.
The launch of Tata’s most ambitious project isn’t very far off either. The first car under the luxury Avinya brand name will be launched this year.
