Tata Sierra Diesel Compared

Tata Motors has launched the new Sierra with a 1.5-litre TGDi engine, a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine & a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Among these, we are comparing the diesel engine with its competitors. As of now, the Sierra diesel will compare with other diesel SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Tata Curvv. Below, we have mentioned the power figures & gearbox options for each of the SUVs.

• Tata Sierra – 1.5-litre diesel engine (116bhp & 280Nm). Gearbox – 6MT & 6AT

• Hyundai Creta – 1.5-litre diesel engine (114bhp & 250Nm). Gearbox – 6MT & 6AT

• Kia Seltos – 1.5-litre diesel engine (114bhp & 250Nm). Gearbox – 6MT & 6AT

• Tata Curvv – 1.5-litre diesel engine (116bhp & 250Nm). Gearbox – 6MT & 7DCA

So, as you can see, the power figures are almost identical in all the SUVs with a diesel engine. A couple of key differences include – Sierra has the most amount of torque, while the Curvv is the only diesel SUV to offer an option for DCA.

Specs & Features

Apart from the diesel engine, the Sierra also comes with options for a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine (104bhp & 147Nm) & a 1.5-litre TGDi engine (158bhp & 255Nm). Gearbox options include – 6MT & 7DCA for 1.5-litre NA and a 6AT for the TGDi unit. In terms of features, the Sierra gets – a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen system, a 12.3-inch co-driver touchscreen, a 12-speaker JBL Black sound system, Level 2+ ADAS, an electronic parking brake, adjustable thigh support for front seats and more.
