Tata Sierra Safety!

Tata had demonstrated the Sierra’s safety by crashing 2 models into each other. The result was quite impressive as both units seemed relatively unscathed after such a brutal crash. But it remained difficult to judge the extent of damage. And to clear these doubts, NCAP has stepped in.
The Sierra scored 5 stars in the recent BNCAP tests. It scored 31.14 out of 32 points in adult-occupancy tests and 44.73 out of 49 points in child-occupancy tests. The autonomous features weren’t tested, which means that this rating is applicable to all variants. As standard, it gets 6 airbags, traction control, disc brakes on all wheels, ABS, EBD, rear parking sensors, etc., as safety features that definitely played a big part in such results.

Tata Sierra Safety – What About Its Competition?

To put it up against its competition, let’s compare how the rivals performed in NCAP tests –
- Elevate – 5 stars (JNCAP)
- Taigun – 5 stars (GNCAP)
- Kushaq – 5 stars (GNCAP)
- Pre-facelift Creta – 3 stars (GNCAP)
- Victoris – 5 stars (BNCAP)
It is important to note that the new Kia Seltos hasn’t been tested by NCAP yet, but because it has a more robust platform, we expect a 5-star rating as well. Furthermore, the NCAP ratings for the Creta are relatively outdated, as the tested model came with just 2 airbags as standard, and Hyundai has now mandated 6 airbags across all its variants. The next-gen Creta is also expected to be based on the new K3 platform (same as the new Seltos), which would definitely boost its ratings.
