Tata Safari And Harrier Petrol Launch Date Confirmed!

You read that right! However, it’s not a facelift or a new gen of SUVs. It has been confirmed that Tata will be launching the Harrier and Safari with the new engine on December 9, 2025. Up until now, the Tata SUVs have only had diesel engine options, leaving no range of choice for their buyers. However, that is about to change. Both these SUVs will get a new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, which will also be seen in the upcoming Sierra.

We expect the new mill to produce 168bhp and 280Nm of torque and will likely be paired with either a 6-speed MT or Tata’s DCA gearbox. As both these SUVs currently share the diesel engine with Jeep, it is likely that Tata’s new petrol engine will also be offered in the Jeep Compass and Meridian. With the new engine, Tata will be able to compete on a level playing field with its rivals. With this new update, both Harrier and Safari will also become slightly more affordable.
What Else?

Apart from the powertrain addition, the rest will likely remain unchanged. The Harrier gets features like powered and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 10.24-inch instrument cluster, a powered tailgate and much more. The Safari gets most of the same features, along with ventilated second-row captain seats. Under the hood of both the SUVs is a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 168bhp and 350Nm of torque, along with a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed TC. Currently, the Harrier carries a price tag ranging from Rs 16.72 Lakh to Rs 30.13 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The Safari carries a price tag ranging from Rs 17.50 Lakh to Rs 30.97 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
