Tata Nexon Facelift- What to Expect » MotorOctane

The Tata Nexon has claimed the number 1 spot as the best-selling car of October 2025. Customers appreciate the variety of powertrains available and the Nexon’s elaborate feature list. To capitalise on the success of the Nexon, a facelift is reportedly in the works. Here is all you need to know about it.

Newer Platform?

Tata has used the X1 platform for all its hatchbacks and compact SUVs. The upcoming Nexon will use the same X1 platform; however, it is expected to undergo a significant transformation. Tata introduced this platform with the Indica and has been dependent on it ever since. The platform has been updated structurally over the years to comply with modern regulations.

Engine Options

The Nexon was launched in 2017 and received thorough revisions in 2020 and 2023. The engine options have remained similar over the years, and the updated Nexon is expected to utilise the outgoing powertrains. Upcoming BS7 norms would require Tata to tweak the less-popular 1.5L Diesel. The 1.5L diesel engine is one of the few engines that do not require AdBlue to meet BS6 requirements. However, Tata may need to revert to using AdBlue or a Selective Catalytic Reduction system to meet the norms. Such a change can result in a significant price hike for the facelifted Nexon.

To complement the diesel engine, the Nexon would offer the identical 1.2L turbo petrol engine and CNG option. The Nexon remains the only turbo-petrol CNG in this segment.

As for transmission options, an identical 7-speed DCA, a 6-speed AMT, a 5-speed manual for the lower variants, and a 6-speed manual transmission are on offer.

The updated Nexon EV is suspected to be launched shortly after the release of the revised combustion variants.

Design Changes

You can expect Tata to go overboard with the cosmetic changes. One of Nexon’s top-selling points has been its chic design, and the facelift will bring some positive design changes. Tata faces severe competition in this segment, and the facelifted Nexon would need to stand out to draw customers. Cosmetic changes to the headlights and taillights, along with a more aggressive grille, would give the Nexon a fresher look.

Updated Interiors

The outgoing Nexon is packed to the brim with features. Most of these features would be carried forward in the facelift. Changes to the iRA, Tata’s connectivity system, and updates to the ADAS system are expected. The Nexon has performed astoundingly well in Bharat NCAP tests, and Tata will aim to improve its safety features in the forthcoming version.

The outgoing Nexon misses out on some crucial features, like electronically powered seats and Electronic Parking Brakes on the ICE models.

Rivals

The compact SUV segment is the most competitive in the Indian Automotive market, with each manufacturer trying to gain significant market share. Its archrivals are the Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra 3XO, Skoda Kylaq and the Hyundai Venue.

All these sub-4-metre compact SUVs are expected to receive a facelift soon, while the Venue received a revision recently. Volkswagen is also set to release the VW Tera in the near future.

Expected Release and Price

The facelifted Nexon is expected to go on sale during the second half of 2026. Tata has kept the development of the revised Nexon under wraps. Within its organisation, Tata has given the upcoming Nexon the codename “Garud”, which means “Eagle” in Hindi.

Tata’s aggressive pricing for the Nexon has helped it achieve staggering sales. As expected, there will be a minor price hike for the facelift, but predictions suggest the pricing will remain competitive.
