Tata’s Record-Breaking Sales

With the start of 2026, Tata has backed its highest-ever monthly sales of 70,222 units in January, which is over a 47.1 per cent rise over December 2025 sales. With Nexon and Punch being one of the brand’s most trusted models, they have pushed 42,000 units combined. But that’s not all, there are some other records too that Tata has just gone past this month! Let’s have a look –

India’s Favourite SUV Leads The Pack

The Tata Nexon has once again proved to be the brand’s most trusted and preferred SUV in the Indian market. The Nexon has gained the top spot not only in the list of best-selling SUVs, but also in the list of best-selling cars in the first month of 2026. Tata has sold over 23,000 units of Nexon, marking its best-ever monthly performance. Nexon sales have significantly pushed cumulative sales past the 10 lakh mark. Its 5-star safety, feature-rich cabin, attractive pricing and multiple powertrain options have made it one of the go-to vehicles for many Indians.

Tata’s Cheapest SUV

Not far behind in the contribution list is the Tata Punch with 19,000 units sold in January 2026. It is worth noting that the Punch is also the fastest car to reach the 7 lakh sales figure in just 4.3 years of its launch, being a clear preference among Indian buyers. The Punch offers a complete package with its SUV-inspired styling in a compact dimension paired with a mouth-watering price of Rs 6.63 lakh – Rs 12.24 lakh (on-road Mumbai).

Another factor that led to its highest-ever monthly sales is the newly launched Punch facelift, which came out in January 2026. The Punch comes with a powerful engine option, the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, and features like the 360-degree camera, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, automatic climate control, sunroof and more, becoming a no-brainer for many buyers at this price range. This is the most value for money offering in Tata’s lineup, pulling in most customers than ever.

Tata’s Most Affordable Car

Acing at the lower end of Tata’s portfolio has been the Tiago. Despite the rising SUV demand, this small hatchback has been one of the best contributors to Tata’s sales figures. The car comes loaded with features like a 10.24-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, fully automatic temperature control, cruise control and much more.

Safety has never been a concern for Tata. The Tiago has a 4-star Global NCAP rating, which adds to its overall feature set. The car lies in the price range of Rs. 5.35 lakh to Rs. 9.41 lakh (on-road Mumbai), making it an attractive option in the hatchback segment.

What Else?

Tata has also begun with the deliveries of the new Sierra on 15 January 2026. And it has managed to gain quite the popularity with their new product. Alongside this, Tata has rolled out the new petrol powertrain for the Harrier and Safari, which has also proved to be a successful move, strengthening Tata’s overall portfolio.
