Sales Halted!
Recently, multiple Maruti Suzuki cars were crash tested and unfortunately scored poor safety ratings. But what caught everyone’s attention was the crash test of Fronx! Well, the primary reason for the poor safety rating of the Fronx was the failure of the rear seatbelt retractor. Due to this, the rear dummies had excessive forward movement, which was prone to some serious injuries. The issue came to light, and Suzuki took swift action. Suzuki has immediately halted the sales of Fronx in New Zealand and has also asked owners not to accommodate passengers in the rear seat of Fronx. The brand will likely issue a recall to fix the issue and address it in future models.

Maruti has yet to crash-test the Indian-specific model. However, the car on which it is based – the Baleno, has secured a 4-star safety rating at the Bharat NCAP. That said, following the ANCAP incident, Maruti will likely conduct a thorough check of its Indian models. And if there are any safety concerns, we believe Maruti will take quick action and rectify them soon. Also, the ANCAP crash test results underscore the importance of seatbelts for rear passengers.
