Skoda Kylaq CNG – Real Or Fake?

Is Skoda really planning a CNG with Kylaq? Skoda India Brand Director Ashish Gupta suggested that a new variant of Kylaq is in the works, and looking at the Indian market dynamics many assumed that a CNG variant might be on the cards. Ashish also stressed that the new variant might be launched by the end of the year or by early 2026.
So, we are in the final month of 2025 and recently we got a block your date invite message by the Skoda team. But, there’s no confirmation about what the brand will reveal? We have already said one might be the most awaited Kushaq facelift, and sharing the stage the Kylaq CNG can also be on the cards.

But does Kylaq CNG make any sense? Kylaq has been a popular compact SUV for the brand rivalling the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and Maruti Fronx. The listed cars do come equipped with a CNG powertrain option, which surely surges the demand. And Skoda might also look to eat a pie of share by offering a CNG variant.
Secondly, Kylaq comes powered with a sole 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, and if it gets a CNG version it might be paired with the same engine option. If this happens, then Kylaq will be the second turbo CNG in the country after Nexon. Now, if it will be factory fitted or retro fitted is still not disclosed. Also the CNG option on Kylaq has not been confirmed by the brand at present.

What Will Happen If This Happens?

Now, the Kylaq is already a volume puller for the brand, and exploring the CNG space will help to gain more volume. So, it will be another win-win game for the brand.
Each variant of the Kylaq gets powered with a turbo petrol mill. That said, Skoda can take their chance and offer a CNG powertrain option with all the variants paired with manual gearbox. But, if they want to keep the cost low, the Kylaq could see a CNG option with its Classic and Signature trim.
That said, regarding price, with CNG the price could be hiked by up to Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 depending on variants. At present, the Kylaq is priced between Rs 9.01 lakh and 15.40 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
