Upcoming Maruti 7-Seater Details

Maruti is planning to launch 28 cars by the end of 2030. The plan is to increase the market share from 40% to 50%. To achieve this, Maruti will likely enter new segments where it currently has nothing to offer. Given the current market scenario and rising demand for 7-seaters, an entry-level MPV could be among the 28 cars.
Talking of which, we expect the carmaker to slot a new 7-seater between the Eeco and the Ertiga. This 7-seater will compete directly with the Renault Triber and the upcoming Nissan B-MPV. Maruti is popular for its affordability, reliability and great after-sales service, which will attract more buyers away from the Renault and Nissan alternatives. And Maruti, being Maruti, may launch this 7-seater between Rs 6 Lakh to Rs 9 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai), undercutting the Triber. As of now, it is unclear when Maruti will launch this 7-seater. But what will this MPV have to offer?

Specs And Features

Maruti is popular for its practicality and space, even in its smaller cars. We expect the new 7-seater to get a tall-boy design like the WagonR. On the powertrain front, we expect the 7-seater to get the 1.2-litre NA petrol engine from the current Swift. Transmission options could include a 5-speed MT and an AMT. One of Maruti’s recent feats could feature in this MPV. The brand currently has the underbody CNG tech ready, and it will be a big USP if the upcoming 7-seater could get the same.

This will allow for more space in the cabin and a usable boot. The Renault Triber also gets a retrofit CNG option. So, if Maruti is able to pull off the underbody CNG tank, it will surely have the upper hand. On the features front, Maruti could offer a good number of features. If it is feasible for the brand, it could offer features like a 9-inch touchscreen, a 360-degree camera, a head-up display, and a few more. All these features, along with Maruti’s USP, high fuel efficiency, will likely dominate the segment and create its own space.
