Rs 50 Lakh For This Maruti SUV! » MotorOctane

Maruti Suzuki is renowned for its affordability in India. In fact, it is one of the key reasons for its success in the Indian automobile market. But what if we told you Maruti also has an SUV that costs more than Rs 50 lakh?

Most Expensive Maruti SUV?

Maruti recently unveiled its first-ever electric SUV, the e Vitara. And when Maruti unveiled its price, it created quite a buzz. It unveiled the eVitara with a BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) option, which meant that it was the cheapest in its segment. But other markets cannot say the same.

Maruti will soon be launching the e Vitara in Brazil. And prior to its imminent launch, its pricing has been leaked. The E Vitara would get a price tag of R$ 269,990, which translates to roughly Rs 50 Lakh! Yes, Rs 50 Lakh for a Maruti.

Why Is It So Expensive?- Maruti Suzuki e Vitara

Just how the Toyota Land Cruiser costs more than Rs 2 crore once it reaches the Indian shore, nearly Rs 1.5 crore more than it costs in Japan. In the Brazilian market, the e-Vitara launch will be the same case. All thanks to heavy taxes, including the import tax, industrial product tax, state taxes and dealer margins. What does the 50 lakh Maruti Suzuki SUV have to offer? Is it any different?

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara-

On the outside, this SUV features a closed front grille, horizontal ‘Y-shaped’ DRLs, connected taillamps, and rugged cladding all around. Making e Vitara look sleeker and not flashy or polarising like other electric SUVs in the market.

Inside the cabin, this SUV is loaded with features, including a dual-screen infotainment and instrumentation setup, powered & ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, 7 airbags, Level 2 ADAS, reclining rear seats, and more. With the best-in-segment wheelbase, the e Vitara offers a spacious cabin.

Maruti Suzuki has been working hard to make their new car safer, and this is evident in the e Vitara as well. This EV has scored a 5-star safety rating from the Bharat NCAP. In addition, there are safety features such as 7 airbags (standard), Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, an Electronic Parking Brake, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Powertrain-

Maruti will be offering two battery pack options: a 49 kWh battery pack and a 61kWh battery pack. The larger battery pack offers a claimed range of 543km on a single charge, producing 172 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. In India, the Vitara is only available in FWD configuration, but overseas, we have the AWD variant, which is also expected to make it into the Brazilian market.

In India, this feature-loaded electric SUV is priced between Rs 16.99 lakh and Rs 21.20 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Would you still buy it if it were priced at Rs 50 lakh??
