Toyota Land Cruiser FJ Launch Confirmed!

According to Autocar India, it has been confirmed that Toyota will be launching the Land Cruiser FJ in India. Toyota showcased the SUV at the Japan Mobility Expo. We expect Toyota to price the SUV around Rs 35 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai). This SUV will be made in India, at Toyota’s new Chatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Plant. But what’s so great about the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ?

What’s New?

The Land Cruiser FJ gets a typical SUV design with its boxy appearance and purposeful stance. The FJ nameplate belongs to one of Toyota’s most iconic off-road SUVs. The new SUV will likely continue the off-road heritage along with the FJ nameplate. The Land Cruiser FJ is based on the IMV 0 platform, which will also be the platform for the upcoming Hilux Rangga. Like other Toyota SUVs, the Land Cruiser FJ will likely be quite reliable while still maintaining its off-road prowess and rugged nature.

In terms of features, the Land Cruiser FJ prototype gets features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a fully digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat and much more. It has also been confirmed that Toyota will be offering the new SUV with a 2.7-litre petrol engine. However, the India-bound SUV will not be getting a diesel engine. Instead, Toyota will also be offering a strong-hybrid and a plug-hybrid powertrain option with the upcoming SUV. We expect it to compete with the likes of a new Mahindra SUV, which will be based on the Mahindra Vision S, showcased a few months ago.
