Mercedes 6X6 G-Wagon Mod!

Well, it’s not really a G-Wagon, but it surely is a 6X6. We came across this 6X6 G-Wagon in a YouTube video from Jaipur Jeep Lovers. Essentially, this absurd SUV is a blend of two of the most common cars in India, a 2013 Mahindra Scorpio and Bolero Pik-up. If you already have a donor car, the modifications will cost you around Rs 13 Lakh to Rs 15 Lakh. And if you want to get the whole package, including the donor cars, it will cost you around Rs 20 Lakh to Rs 25 Lakh.

Design

One of the most essential parts of this build was the design. The front body of the SUV is a Bolero Pik-up, and the extended chassis is from the donor Scorpio. All the body panels, including the front and rear bumpers, the load bed and other components, have all been fabricated in-house and are made out of metal. This gives the SUV a solid and sturdy build. To replicate the G-Wagon, design elements like bonnet-mounted boxy indicators, round LED headlights, bumper-mounted DRLs, roof-mounted lightbar, a Brabus logo with AMG slatted grille, have been added. The design and fabrication have been done very well, and it looks like a G-Wagon from the front.

The wheels used are 15 inches and the tyres are 32 inches, for better off-road performance. Thanks to these tyres, the G-Wagon 6X6 looks taller and wider, drawing a lot of attention on the streets. On the inside, the dashboard is from a 2016 Thar CRDe. The front seats are from the Fortuner, with the driver’s seat being electrically adjustable. The rear seats are from an Innova Crysta. In terms of features, it gets an electric sunroof, electrically retractable side steps, an aftermarket infotainment system and a 4-speaker sound system.

Powertrain

Now, the most interesting part is that it is a functional 6X6. Which means, the engine sends power to 3 axles instead of the regular two axles in an AWD car. To manage this, they have installed a modified transfer case that gets 6X6 in addition to the usual 4H and 4L. Powering the SUV is a 2.6-litre diesel engine from a 2013 Mahindra Scorpio. The engine is stock and produces 116bhp and 277Nm of torque. However, they claim that the torque might be more than usual in 6-low form. The gearbox has been tweaked to manage this power and torque. In stock form with 4X4, the power used to be delivered in a 60:40 ratio; 60% to the rear and 40% to the front. However, with the addition of 6 wheels, the power split is now 30:30:20.
That said, this is one of the most unique and impressive builds that we have come across. And, at around Rs 25 Lakh, this is a great way to get closer to owning a 6X6 G-Wagon!
So, what do you think of this unique build?
