The Incident-

On 22nd February, a 50-year-old woman from Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh was rushed to the hospital. She fainted while doing household work at her home. Later on doctor realised that she was completely unresponsive to her treatment, declaring her brain dead. Fast forward to 24th Feb: after losing all hope, her family was carrying her back home to say a final goodbye. But it seems destiny had some different plan for her! The ambulance she was being carried in hit a pothole on NH-47 near Hafizganj, Uttar Pradesh. This was the turning point of her life. When everyone thought she was dead, she started breathing normally after that impact.

Conclusion-

There is no scientific evidence that the pothole’s jerk has cured the woman. In this particular case, the woman is most likely to be in a deep coma, and not brain-dead. A sudden jerk or shake can theoretically help very slightly, but in this case, it seems to be a coincidence. Such an incident is quite rare. While the woman’s family might be grateful for this miracle, we all struggle with and complain about these potholes.

This is an ironic case in which the ‘pothole’, considered a failure of the system, has saved someone’s life. While the government under the leadership of Shri. Nitin Gadkari has been rapidly expanding the road network. Who should be held responsible for the inconsistent maintenance of these roads?
