After the launch of the Skoda Kyalq in December 2024, the brand had a rather silent year. The Kylaq created a buzz, which also reflects the monthly sales of 2025. And yes, Skoda did launch two of the most exciting cars, the Kodiaq & the Octavia RS, but they cater only to specific buyers. The best-selling or mass-market segments were mainly left untouched. However, that does not mean that Skoda has ignored the segment! In fact, Skoda is likely preparing to announce exciting news in the first month of 2026.

Upcoming Skoda SUV
A few days back, Skoda India sent us an email with an invitation. The email mentioned to block our dates for the Skoda event that is scheduled on the 19th & 20th of January. Now, what exactly is expected on either of these two days? Well, although 2025 was a quiet year for Skoda, the brand was busy testing the facelifted Kushaq! Skoda’s Creta rival had a struggling run, which is expected to change with the upcoming facelift. On the mentioned dates, we expect Skoda to finally launch the Kushaq facelift in India. With a facelift, it will get a new design, features, and a more polished product than the current model.

New Design & Features
We have already seen the Kushaq facelift multiple times on the Indian roads. Although camouflaged, some of the new elements were clearly visible. These include new LED headlamps, a new front grille, and redesigned front & rear bumpers. Unfortunately, though, we have yet to receive a clear image of the interior. Yet, we expect some changes to the dashboard with updated plastic quality. Also, it should come with a new interior colour theme for a fresh appeal. What we do expect is that the Kushaq will have an updated feature list. This includes Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, updated digital instrument cluster & touchscreen system, and even a massage function for the rear passengers. Additionally, the AC performance, which has faced buyer criticism, is also expected to improve with the facelift.

Same Engines, New Gearbox – Upcoming Skoda SUV
Yes, the Skoda Kushaq facelift is expected to continue with the same engine options. It comes with two engines & both are turbocharged. These incldues a 1.0-litre TSI (114bhp & 178Nm) & a 1.5-litre TSI (148bhp & 250Nm). Among these, the smaller engine comes with a 6-speed MT & 6-speed AT gearbox options. At the same time, the larger engine gets a sole 7-speed DSG gearbox. With a facelift, the 1.5-litre TSI will likely continue with the same gearbox. However, the smaller engine could get a new 8-speed AT gearbox instead of continuing with the 6-speed AT unit!

Overall, we are expecting some thoughtful changes to the Kushaq facelift. The SUV is an important product for the brand, and Skoda will make a lot of effort to make it one of the most successful Skodas in India.
