Next-Gen Creta To Be Safer Than Ever?  » MotorOctane

Hyundai Creta Safety

The current generation of Creta has one flaw – its safety. The Creta scored a mere 3 stars in child and adult occupancy tests. This is the one place where it falls behind its rivals like the Victoris, Elevate, Kushaq and Taigun, which flaunt a 5-star NCAP rating. However, it is important to note that the tested model had only 2 airbags and was the pre-facelift version. In 2023, Hyundai made 6 airbags standard on the Creta, but the platform has remained unchanged ever since.

With the new Creta, Hyundai will try to maximise the safety ratings. The next-gen model has already been spotted, and the dimensions appear to have increased. Even the new Seltos is significantly bigger than its predecessor, since it has adopted the new K3 platform. This suggests that the Creta could also be based on the K3 platform. So what is the big fuss about this new platform?

New Platform = Better Safety?

This K3 platform has made its debut in India with the new Kia Seltos. Kia claims that this platform not only provides more interior space but also better crash performance and NVH levels. Moreover, the addition of high-strength, hot-stamped steel has made the structure safer and more rigid. If Hyundai adopt the K3 platform, we could expect the same positive changes with the Creta.

While we are yet to know the safety rating for the new Seltos or the next-gen Creta, we can make a guess based on another car that uses the same platform – the Kia Niro. The Niro scored 4 stars in Euro NCAP. And with an additional safety pack, it got a 5-star rating. The only difference between the two tested vehicles was that the safety pack included a radar-based ADAS system instead of a conventional camera-based system. Since the Creta is based on the same K3 platform, we can expect similar crash performances in BNCAP.

Euro NCAP values ADAS more strictly than BNCAP. We can expect more leniency when the Creta is tested here. Hyundai will be hoping for all 5 stars once tested for BNCAP. One thing we can say for sure is that it will perform much better than its predecessor.

Next-Gen Creta- What To Expect?

Since we expect it to be based on the K3 platform, the cabin will be more spacious than ever. The looks will also see a major redesign. However, we don’t expect any changes to the engine bay, with a 1.5-litre NA, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel being offered. Hyundai have made its plans for a hybrid powertrain clear, and the next-gen Creta could be offered as a hybrid.

We expect it to get an even bigger feature list. The current feature list includes Level 2 ADAS, front ventilated seats, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, and much more. We expect more autonomous features and a larger infotainment screen with the next-gen model.

While the Korean manufacturer is yet to officially announce its plans for the next-gen Creta, we expect it to be launched by late 2026 or early 2027.
