Volkswagen Tayron R-Line Unveiled!

VW India has officially taken the wraps off its new 7-seater, the Tayron R-Line. The Tayron R-Line is essentially a stretched-out 7-seater version of the Tiguan R-Line that is currently on sale in India. The Tayron R-Line will be VW’s flagship SUV for India and will compete directly with the likes of the Skoda Kodiaq and the Toyota Fortuner. That said, let’s dive into the details of the new 7-seater SUV!

Design

While the front fascia closely resembles that of a Tiguan R-Line, the car does have a few subtle differences to set it apart from the Tiguan. The main differentiating factor is the LED taillight design. The Tiguan R-line sports a connected LED taillight with small rectangular light elements and a black cladding. The Tayron, however, has unique light elements in the taillamp and sports dark translucent cladding. Moreover, the VW logo on the boot of the Tayron R-Line is backlit in red, while the Tiguan R-Line’s logo is not lit. The rear bumper design is also different for the models.
Apart from these differences, it is very hard to tell the two SUVs apart. Other design elements on the Tayron include R-line badging, 19-inch alloy wheels, and much more. That said, the Tayron R-Line is a handsome SUV with a sporty charm to it. On the inside, the cabin is almost identical to the Tiguan R-Line, which is a good thing. The material quality is top-notch, and the cabin exudes opulence.

Volkswagen Tayron R-Line Features

Much like the Tiguan R-Line, the Tayron R-Line gets features like ventilated front seats with massage function, a 15-inch touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, a fully digital instrument cluster, powered front seats, Level 2 ADAS and the list goes on.

Powertrain And Pricing

While VW has not revealed any details regarding the powertrain, it will likely borrow the same engine from the Tiguan R-Line. So, it will likely get a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 201bhp and 320Nm of torque along with a 7-speed DSG and AWD. What will be the highlight of the SUV will be the pricing. Unlike the Tiguan R-Line, which was brought in through the CBU route, the Tayron R-Line will likely be a CKD unit (Completely Knocked Down). So, even though the Tayron will be the flagship SUV, it might just cost less than the Tiguan R-Line. We expect it to carry a price tag of around Rs 50 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
