Upcoming Hyundai SUV

Hyundai’s current SUV lineup consists of the Creta, Exter, Ioniq 5, Alcazar and the Venue. And it will further diversify the range with this new SUV. A few months back, we had reported the first sighting of Hyundai’s new sub-4 m SUV. And now it has been spied testing again, and this time around, we have more definitive details.

The test mule is distinctly a Hyundai. The boxy stance, alloy wheel design and taillights are pretty synonymous with a Hyundai, and you don’t need to look at the badge to identify it. The test mule has been well camouflaged, but the funky design language is still evident, and we can see the look the designers were aiming for.

From the initial spy shots, we weren’t very sure whether it would be an EV or an ICE. But now, the recent spy shots were taken at a charging station, clearing our doubts. The Korean automaker has shown its interest in the EV/hybrid segment in India, and this new SUV would be its second electric SUV after the Creta.

Expected Features & Specifications

We expect it to share many components with the Venue. Some of the features that we could see on this upcoming SUV are –

  • A 12.3-inch infotainment screen
  • Fully digital driver’s display
  • Electric sunroof
  • An ADAS suite
  • Front ventilated seats
  • Powered driver seats
  • Wireless charging

It could be offered with the Creta’s 42kWh pack, along with a smaller battery pack for lower variants. While the details about the smaller pack are yet to be revealed, the 42kWh pack has a claimed range of 390km.

Upcoming Hyundai SUV – Expected Pricing & Launch

This new SUV would be Hyundai’s answer to India’s best-selling EV, the Tata Nexon. It will also compete against other EVs, such as the Mahindra 3XO EV and the MG Windsor. We expected a price of around Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

These spy shots have come out of the blue, and details remain blurry. But looking at some of Hyundai’s other upcoming launches, we can expect a late 2026 or an early 2027 launch. Hyundai couldn’t quite crack the EV code with the Creta, and it hopes for a better response for this one.
