Next-Gen Fortuner To Get This Important Feature!

This is not the first time that the new Fortuner has been spotted testing. Some time ago, we reported on its spy shots. So what’s new now? In these recently surfaced spy shots, we can see many notable changes and some improvements over the outgoing models.
Even the most diehard Fortuner fans can’t deny that the SUV seems prehistoric when compared to its rivals. It doesn’t get ADAS, which is particularly surprising for a car that can cost Rs 60 Lakh. Many compact SUVs offer a better feature list than the Fortuner. Fortunately enough, with the next-gen Fortuner, we can spot this key feature – an ADAS radar. This means that the next-gen Fortuner will finally get a much-needed ADAS suite.

Next-Gen Fortuner Spotted

The initial spy shots gave us a brief glimpse of the Fortuner’s rear profile, but now we get a more thorough look at the fascia and its side profile. The overall stance of the Fortuner remains the same, and you can spot that it is a Fortuner from a mile away. From the side, the changes are minimal, and you get the same traditional door handles and silhouette.
You can spot changes at the front and rear ends, where the headlights and taillights have been redesigned. The new Fortuner would get a refreshed front grille and bumper, along with a split-headlamp setup with slim LED DRLs, like from the new Hilux. At the back, you can spot similar taillights. It is very likely to get a connected taillight setup as well.

Hilux Interior Used For Reference
Speculation suggests that the new Fortuner will be based on the recently unveiled 2026 Toyota Hilux. Thanks to this, we can get a brief idea of what the interiors would look like. It is a revelation when compared to the current Fortuner. Along with an ADAS suite, some notable features that we expect with the new Fortuner are –
- A 12.3-inch infotainment screen
- Ventilated and powered front seats
- Panoramic sunroof
- 360-degree camera
- Wireless charging

Powertrain

It is likely that Fortuner will use the same 2.7-litre (164bhp & 245 Nm) and 2.8-litre diesel (201bhp & 500Nm) from the outgoing model. You would also get an option for a mild-hybrid diesel powertrain. Gearbox options will also be the same, with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed AT on offer.
The new Hilux also gets the same diesel engine. Moreover, Toyota has confirmed that it will launch the Hilux as a PHEV, an EV, and a hydrogen-powered vehicle in the near future. As expected, we won’t see these powertrain options in the India-spec Fortuner.

Expected Pricing & Launch

While the news of an ADAS suite may seem like a positive update, it also means pricing is set to increase. The current model is priced between Rs 41.72 and 61.40 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai) and could see a price surge of almost Rs 75,000. Furthermore, Toyota has yet to confirm the launch timeline for the new Fortuner, but we expect it to be launched by late 2026 or early 2027.
