Toyota Corolla Cross

Well, it’s none other than the Corolla Cross. Back in the day, we Indians knew the Corolla as the comfortable and reliable sedan, so what exactly is this Corolla Cross? In international markets, the Corolla Cross is one of the most popular C-segment SUVs. You will be surprised to know that this new compact SUV will share its platform with the MPV Innova Hycross. Overseas, this SUV is known for offering a combination of legendary reliability, affordability, and brand trust. With 2 manufacturing plants across the country, the Japanese automaker is looking forward to expanding its portfolio in the coming years. And a part of that plan is the Toyota Corolla Cross. What does it have to offer?

Exteriors- Toyota Corolla Cross

On the outside, the looks are not exactly identical to the Corolla sedan; they are more similar to Toyota’s other compact SUV, the RAV4. The front fascia of this SUV used to feature a trapezoidal grille, which has been removed from the new models. In addition to the modern looks, there is slim LED lighting at the front. The rear end is simpler than the front end, which misses out on the connected taillamp treatment, but it does feature sleek, stylish LED taillamps. To maintain the SUV character, the Corolla Cross also comes equipped with cladding across the side profiles. What else do you get from this Toyota SUV?

Interiors & Features

When it comes to interiors, Toyota has copy-pasted the elements directly from the Corolla sedan. It features a 10.5-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as a 12.3-inch driver’s display. In addition, it comes with a panoramic sunroof, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and more. For driver assistance, the automaker has offered features such as a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, parking support brake, and more. On the safety front, this SUV has earned 5-star safety ratings from Euro NCAP, ANCAP, and ASEAN NCAP; however, certain base models have received lower 2-star ratings.

Powertrain-

Internationally, this SUV is offered with a hybrid powertrain and two petrol engine options: a 1.8-litre and a 2.0-litre. The 2.0-litre petrol engine with the hybrid tech is the same as that being offered with the Hycross hybrid in India. Following that, the Hybrid powertrain featuring the 2.0-litre petrol engine(196bhp and 188Nm) is most likely to be offered in India. Good news for those looking forward to the trail for their weekend adventures: Toyota might offer this SUV in both AWD and FWD powertrain configurations.

Expected Price & Launch-

While there is no official statement on this SUV from the brand, with the relevant actions from the brand with the plant expansion and also the lack of offering of their own C-segment car into the market, they will be expecting this SUV as soon as possible. We can expect this SUV by the end of 2027 or early 2028, manufactured at the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant. This product is expected to be positioned between the Hyryder and Hycross, with a price tag between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 28 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). If you are looking for a compact crossover SUV with great mileage and that would last for years, then this is the choice for you. Would you get this over the best-selling Hyundai Creta?
