Triumph Tracker 400 Unveiled

Triumph has officially unveiled the Tracker 400, inspired by the design and functionality of flat trackers. And thanks to a more flat tracker design, we believe it would be the perfect rival to the Royal Enfield Guerilla 450. However, the bike has been unveiled in the UK as of now, and it is unclear whether it will come to India. Triumph might bring the Tracker with a new 350cc engine that is likely in the works. This will allow Triumph to take advantage of the GST 2.0 reforms. So, as of now, we think that the Tracker 400 may stay limited to the UK market. However, Triumph seems to have done an amazing job with the Tracker 400 in terms of design, features and every other aspect. Let’s dive into the details of this new Triumph bike!

Design

The British brand has put together the best part of all its existing bikes to create an all-round package. It is essentially based on the Speed 400, but it borrows its state of tune of the engine from the Thruxton 400 – ensuring better performance. While it may look familiar to the Speed 400, it seems like Triumph has put some work into this bike. Design-wise, the Tracker 400 gets a revised tank design, sculpted for better grip for the rider. It also gets a small front visor and knobby dual-purpose tyres, adding to the character of the motorcycle. Unlike the existing Triumph bikes that sport subtle decals, the Tracker 400 gets more attractive and louder decals.
Moreover, it gets a rear seat cowl and a side number plate with 400 stickers, giving it a sporty appearance. Towards the rear, the Tracker looks to borrow the rear section from the Thruxton 400. The new bike also borrows the double-barrel exhaust from the Scrambler 400X. Triumph is offering this bike in 3 colour options: Aluminium Silver, Racing Yellow and Phantom Black. That said, Triumph has nailed it in the design department, giving the bike a purposeful and authentic “flat-tracker” design.

Triumph Tracker 400 – What’s New?

Well, Triumph has gone all in with this motorcycle to live up to its name. Although based on the Speed 400, the bike gets many tweaks to become more purposeful. Triumph has offered 43mm USD forks with 140mm wheel travel and a 130mm travel with the rear monoshock. Plus, the brand has also moved the footpegs behind and upwards for a more controlling riding triangle. What also helps with riding a triangle is the wider handlebars, which are also positioned lower for a more commanding posture.
The Tracker also gets new alloy wheels with Pirelli dual-purpose tyres, for better grip on and off the road. Somehow, Triumph has managed to keep the weight down to 173kgs, just 3kgs heavier than the UK-spec Speed 400. For better performance off-road, the brand has also offered switchable ABS, along with switchable traction control and a torque assist clutch. At the heart of the matter is a 398cc engine producing 41.42bhp and 37.5Nm of torque along with a 6-speed gearbox. Triumph may have tweaked the engine and the gearing for improved top-end performance.
