New Maruti SUV Vs Hyundai Creta
Maruti turned a lot of heads when they announced the pricing for its latest SUV. Everyone started wondering whether Creta’s time was finally up, and today we will find out the answer.

We are indeed talking about the Creta electric and e Vitara. The ICE Creta is facing enough competition as it is with the new Sierra, Duster and Kushaq facelift, and now its electric sibling is in danger as well. We will look at practicality, features, powertrain, and pricing to reach a verdict in this battle.

Practicality

| Dimensions (in mm) | Creta Electric | E Vitara |
| Length | 4340 | 4275 |
| Width | 1790 | 1800 |
| Height | 1655 | 1640 |
| Wheelbase | 2610 | 2700 |
| Ground Clearance | 190 | 185 |
| Boot Space | 423 | 306 |

The e-Vitara offers better cabin space thanks to its longer wheelbase and wider body, while the Creta electric flaunts a bigger boot and better ground clearance.

Powertrain –

The Creta electric is offered with 2 powertrains –
- 42kWh producing 133bhp & 255 Nm(390 to 420km ARAI-tested range) (Fast charging – 10-80% charging in 39 mins)
- 51.4kWh producing 169 bhp & 255 Nm(510km ARAI-tested range) (Fast charging – 10-80% charging in 39 mins)

E-Vitara’s powertrain options include –
- 49 kWh producing 141 bhp & 193 Nm (440 km ARAI- tested range) (Fast charging – 10-80% charging in 45 mins)
- 61 kWh producing 171 bhp & 193 Nm(543 ARAI-tested range) (Fast charging – 10-80% charging in 45 mins)
If you want performance and fast charging times, the Creta is the best bet. But if the range is your major concern, opt for the e Vitara.

Pricing

This is where it is make-or-break for the e Vitara. Maruti faced criticism when the e Vitara’s price was leaked on its website, but it answered those criticisms when it announced the official pricing. Maruti has tried to get ahead of its competitors by introducing a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme. The pricing for the BaaS variants is as follows –
- Delta 49kWh – Rs 10.99 lakh at Rs 3.99/km (ex-showroom)
- Zeta 61kWh – Rs 11.99 lakh at Rs 4.39/km (ex-showroom)
- Alpha 61kWH – Rs 14.29 lakh at Rs 4.39/km (ex-showroom)

Creta Electric is not offered with a BaaS alternative, and this is how it fares up against the non-BaaS E-Vitara
| Creta Electric | E Vitara | |
| Pricing (on-road, Mumbai) | Rs 19.12 lakh – Rs 26.10 lakh | Rs. 16.99 – 21.20 Lakh |
Verdict
As for features and powertrain, both these cars are neck-to-neck. The Creta may offer better features, a more powerful powertrain, and slightly shorter charging times, while the e Vitara offers better range.
But the e-Vitara pulls ahead in the pricing department. With the BaaS scheme, the e Vitara competes with cars in lower segments (like the Nexon.ev). Even if we compare the Creta with the e Vitara’s non-Baas variants, it offers better value for money. For the price of a mid-variant Creta electric (Smart (O) with the 42kWh pack), you can get a top-of-the-line e Vitara. As far as value for money is concerned, the e Vitara is the better pick.
