New Japanese SUV!

To compete with strong contenders like the Creta, Sierra & the Seltos, a Japanese brand is betting on a new SUV. Not Honda or Toyota, but it will be Nissan to launch a new SUV in the mid-size SUV segment! Last year, Nissan revealed or teased the upcoming SUV. It showcased a few design elements of the exterior & the interior and also revealed the name. Yes, we are talking about the upcoming Nissan Tekton! An SUV that will be heavily based on the upcoming Renault Duster. Among these, the Duster will be launched on the 26th of January 2026. On the other hand, Nissan is expected to unveil more details, if not the entire product, in February 2026. But will it have enough to rival the likes of current mid-size SUVs?

Pricing – Nissan Tekton Launch

The most important factor for the Nissan Tekton will be pricing, and Nissan will nail it. Even today, the brand has a sole product in India, the Magnite, and is planning to launch the new Gravite. The Magnite, despite rivalling the Nexon, is priced significantly cheaper. Currently, the Magnite is priced between Rs 6.82 lakh & Rs 13.15 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). For the Tekton, we expect Nissan to undercut the Creta by a significant margin. The Creta is priced between Rs 12.77 lakh & Rs 24.50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Apart from the pricing, there are other parameters where the Tekton has to be competitive against the Hyundai Creta!

Interior & Features

Let’s begin with the interior & features, as it is where the buyers will spend the majority of their time. The brand has not yet revealed any significant details about its interiors. But it has given a sneak peek of the interior, showcasing a sleek dashboard design with ambient lighting that looks premium. Also, if it keeps the overall layout similar to the new Duster, which is already on sale in global markets, we expect the Tekton to get a practical cabin layout. So, similar to the Magnite, the Tekton will likely have plenty of storage space.

In terms of features, we can expect the Tekton to share the list with the Duster. The upcoming Duster will likely feature a 10-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All of these and much more could be present in the new Tekton.

Engine Options – Nissan Tekton Launch

Even the engine options will be shared with the Renault Duster. In the global markets, the Duster comes with multiple engine options. However, the one we expect for India is the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 158bhp! It is the same engine that also powers a few entry-level Mercedes cars! For the Tekton, we do expect Nissan to offer this same engine, which was in fact offered with the older Renault Duster & Nissan Terrano in India.
