Fortuner’s Biggest Rival Teased!

MG has recently released a teaser featuring a car speeding across alleys, which appears to be its upcoming MG Majestor. MG is all set to bring the Majestor to the Indian market on 12 February 2026. The brand’s new flagship is billed as India’s first D+ segment, creating a new segment beyond the current D segment.
The teaser highlights the car’s commanding design featuring the Majestic Matrix Combination Grille, Falcon-type LED DRLs, and split-style headlamps. With the Majestor, MG aims to offer a more spacious, premium, and capability-focused alternative to established full-size SUVs.

What Can We Expect?

The Majestor will be the longest in its segment, measuring 5m. The SUV will be heavily based on the ongoing Gloster. The MG Gloster is a luxury SUV offering some of the most advanced and modern features in its segment.
The SUV is expected to come loaded with features, like the 12.3-inch infotainment display, a 12.3-inch driver’s display, Level-2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, powered front and rear seats with ventilation and massage functions, and a panoramic sunroof. Along with the advanced features, the Majestor is also expected to run on 20-inch alloy wheels giving the car a bolder and rugged stance.

Powertrain

Mechanically, the Majestor is expected to share its underpinning with the MG Gloster. It is likely to feature a 4WD drivetrain and a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine (213bhp & 478Nm torque). The engine is likely to be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This gives the Majestor a clear power advantage over the Fortuner’s 2.8-litre turbo-diesel which produces 201bhp with 500Nm torque paired with a 6-speed automatic on paper. Considering the Indian market, MG is also expected to release the Majestor with a RWD manual option with a lower price tag.

Expected Price
With the Majestor sitting above the Gloster with premium and advanced features, we expect the price range to fall between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 60 lakh (on-road Mumbai). This makes the Majestor a compelling premium alternative to the Fortuner.
