Something interesting was spotted on Indian roads, heavily camouflaged but impossible to ignore. Well, nobody actually knows which SUV this is. No such SUV exists in Hyundai’s lineup, even in international markets. So, it seems the Korean brand is working on something special for India that will directly compete with the Punch EV.  Think of it as Hyundai’s answer to the growing demand for compact, stylish, and practical SUVs in the Rs 12-15 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) space, a segment that has been getting hotter every single month.

Spy shots reveal an upright, boxy stance with flared wheel arches, pixel-pattern LED lights at the rear, flush-fitting door handles, roof rails, and large rear-view mirrors that appear to have camera modules, possibly for a 360-degree camera setup. It looks modern, rugged, and distinctly Hyundai, with a proper SUV stance rather than a tall hatchback trying to look like one.

An interesting thing is that it will share several features with newer Hyundai models, including a large touchscreen infotainment unit, a digital driver’s display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, connected-car tech, ambient lighting, and Level 2 ADAS on top variants. Inside, dual 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and instruments are expected, along with a sunroof, automatic climate control, and rear AC vents. For the price it is targeting, this feature list is genuinely impressive.

The images strongly suggest this is the EV variant of the new Hyundai SUV, as evidenced by its aerodynamic alloy wheels and the absence of a tailpipe. It is expected to offer battery options similar to its rival, the Tata Punch EV, likely featuring two battery powertrains: 30 kWh and 40 kWh.
