F1 and MotoGP are the pinnacle of motorsport, and Indians have had the privilege of experiencing them a few times. The iconic Buddh International Circuit in Noida has hosted these events, giving Indians a taste of this adrenaline-fueled sport. But we haven’t seen any more Grand Prix in India ever since. Indian Grand Prix Is Back?

The Buddh Internation Circuit has seen some legendary races and iconic moments, with Vettel’s 2013 WDC win standing out amongst these moments. But that GP also marked the end of F1’s adventure in India as the FIA and the UP government fell into a tax dispute. It took us 10 years to finally get a taste of motorsport action again when MotoGP returned in 2023. Unfortunately, the Indian GP was cancelled soon after due to “operational circumstances”. Indian motorsport enthusiasts could not catch a break until now.
The UP government has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with motorsports events and advisory company AVW Global to host international motorsport events at the Buddh International Circuit. Under the MoU, the company has been granted permission to host MotoGP and the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC). But when could we finally taste the action?

When Can You Book The Tickets?

This venture is beneficial not only for Indian motorsport fans but also for fans worldwide. The Buddh circuit is one of the most entertaining tracks in the world and is also the only FIA-commissioned track in India. If all things go well, the circuit will host AARC as early as July 2026. Unfortunately, you would have to wait a bit longer to see Marc Marquez back in India.
The 2026 calendar is already out, and the Indian GP is nowhere to be seen. This would make it the 3rd consecutive year we have missed the Indian GP. We would have to wait until 2027 to get a more definitive date for the race. So hold onto your horses, as you have a long time to save up for the tickets.

Reason For This Big News?

MotoGP is not limited to entertainment. It creates opportunities for sponsors, employments and tourism for the state. The UP state government realises this and has thus made this decision. With the recent surge in motorsport enthusiasts, this is the perfect time to boost motorsport in India. There are infinite opportunities for the government and the people, and if both the hosting company and the government organise such events well, it is a win-win for everyone involved.
The Buddh circuit has been praised by MotoGP and F1 legends. And if the upcoming events are organised smoothly, who knows, we could see it hosting another F1 event as well.
