MG has marketed the Majestor as India’s first-ever D+ segment SUV. This means its dimensions are larger than those of the Fortuner. It is more than 5 metres long, a staggering 300mm longer than the Fortuner. It also gets larger 19-inch alloys when compared to the 18-inch ones on the Fortuner. The Majestor gets a rugged stance, sharp headlights and a giant front grille that give it a strong road presence. And thanks to its length, it holds its own against the Fortuner in the looks department.

At the end of the day, looks are subjective. Nevertheless, MG designers have done a decent job with the flagship SUV.

MG Majestor Vs Toyota Fortuner – Interiors

With the Fortuner, you get outdated black interiors. While the cabin’s build quality might be good, you’ll find cheap plastic throughout the vehicle. It is 2026, and the Fortuner still does not get an ADAS suite or a sunroof. This is the part where the Majestor pulls clear.

MG have gone to great lengths to pack the SUV with features. It gets a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a panoramic sunroof, Level-2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, a fully digital instrument cluster, powered front seats with massage and ventilation, etc. The interior is filled with high-quality materials, and the overall layout of the dashboard is ergonomic and user-friendly.
In terms of practicality, the Majestor is superior. With longer dimensions, you get a more spacious cabin and a larger boot. The Majestor boasts a 343-litre boot while the Fortuner gets a 297-litre boot (with all rows up). The boot space disparity increases significantly with the last row folded down. With the last row down, the Majestor has a whopping 1350-litre boot, and the Fortuner has a mere 716-litre boot.

MG Majestor Vs Toyota Fortuner – Powertrain

The Fortuner scores good marks in this department. You get 2 powertrain options – a 2.7-litre turbo-petrol (164 bhp & 245 Nm) and a 2.8-litre diesel ( 201 bhp & 500 Nm). The gearbox options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AT. In that regard, the Majestor falls back as it only gets a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel (213bhp & 479Nm), mated to an 8-speed AT as standard. Furthermore, both cars are offered with 4WD drivetrains.

The Fortuner offers slightly better performance along with more engine and gearbox options for customers. On the other hand, the Majestor offers better off-road capabilities because it has a triple-differential setup rather than the Fortuner’s conventional dual-differential setup. This also translates into better handling on both regular and off-road terrain. The Majestor also flaunts an impressive 810 mm water wading capacity.
