Maruti is the best-selling car maker in India and has recently achieved a sales milestone of 3 crore units. However, one of its SUVs has not been the most fruitful in terms of sales. So, the brand has a trick up its sleeve to eke out more sales from this SUV. But what is this trick? Let’s find out!

Maruti Grand Vitara Discount!

Although Maruti is the best-selling car brand, SUVs like the Grand Vitara have not met the brand’s standards. So, to boost sales, Maruti’s new trick is to offer a massive discount on the Grand Vitara. Talking of which, Maruti is offering a Rs 2 Lakh discount on the Grand Vitara to boost sales. The maximum discount is available on the hybrid variant, as potential Grand Vitara buyers prefer the CNG and petrol models more.

For those, the petrol-only model gets benefits of up to Rs 1.75 Lakh, and the CNG variant gets a discount of up to Rs 94,000. Currently, the SUV is priced between Rs 12.63 lakh & Rs 23 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). To get more details on the same, contact your nearest Maruti Nexa dealership! Moreover, the launch of the Maruti Victoris will likely hinder Grand Vitara sales. So, what can Maruti do about this?
Why Is This Maruti’s Last Hope?

We say it’s Maruti’s last hope to sell the Grand Vitara because the Victoris is a better value-for-money product, given the features, safety, and tech on offer. Within the last 8 days of the price reveal in September, Maruti sold 4,261 units of the Victoris. At the same time, the brand sold only 5,698 units of the Grand Vitara in the entire month of September. Also, the Victoris, at a similar price, offers a more premium interior, more features, and more technology than the Grand Vitara. Additionally, the Victoris, which shares its platform with the Grand Vitara, is currently the safest car in India with a 5-star safety rating in both BNCAP and GNCAP. On the other hand, the Grand Vitara was never tested for safety at either NCAP.

That said, it is not just the Victoris that is forcing Maruti to sell the Grand Vitara at a discount. The other possible reason could be its rebadged version – Toyota Hyryder. Both these SUVs are offered with Toyota’s strong hybrid technology. Result – the sales of hybrid variants of the Hyryder are much higher than the hybrid Grand Vitara.
