Mahindra Thar Roxx 3-door Version In Works? Spotted Testing! » MotorOctane

The Mahindra Thar is a legendary nameplate in India. Currently, we have two products under this nameplate – the Thar 3-door & the Thar Roxx. Both these SUVs are popular amongst Indians and are doing exceptionally well for the brand. Now, the Thar 3-door recently received an update with new features. And now, the model has been spotted yet again, with design inspiration from the Thar Roxx!

2026 Mahindra Thar Spotted

Now, the title may have done the trick to make you click the story. So, while it is not really a smaller version of the Roxx, it looks like a Baby Thar Roxx as the spy shots reveal similar design elements on the 3-door model. Talking of which, the C-shaped LED DRLs and the front grille on the test car are very much identical to the Thar Roxx. Additionally, the SUV can also be seen with bigger 19-inch alloy wheels, similar to the Roxx. Other than that, the front & rear bumpers, along with the taillamps, are covered with camouflage. This hints at possible changes to those elements.

Interestingly, all these changes were earlier expected for the Thar 3-door facelift that was launched in October 2025. However, with that update, the brand focused on improving the feature list. The update brought new features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen system, a rear camera, a smartphone charger, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, rear AC vents and more. For the upcoming model that has been spotted, we can expect more features from the Thar Roxx, like the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, Harman Kardon Sound System and even a 360-degree camera. Also, the overall interior layout could get some tweaks, including a new interior colour theme.

Same Engine Options?

Apart from new design & features, the engine options are expected to remain the same. The upcoming model will likely continue with the same 1.5-litre diesel engine (117bhp & 300Nm), 2.2-litre diesel engine (150bhp & 320Nm) & a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine (130bhp & 300Nm). Among these, the smaller diesel engine comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the other two offer 6-speed manual & 6-speed automatic gearbox options.

2026 Mahindra Thar – Launch & Price

Talking about the launch of the updated 3-door Thar is too early as of now. In fact, it is an interesting spotting as the model was recently launched with new updates. That said, Mahindra may launch the SUV in early 2026. Pricing-wise, we can expect the brand to hike the prices by up to Rs 65,000. Currently, the Thar 3-door is priced between Rs 11.91 lakh & Rs 20.68 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
