Mahindra Scorpio N VS XUV 7XO:
Both the Mahindra Scorpio N and XUV 7XO are highlights of Mahindra’s full-size SUV lineup. The choice between these might be confusing due to similar engines and overlapping prices. But there is a big difference between the powertrains of these two. You don’t need to be an expert to differentiate between the powertrains and make a better choice for yourself. Here is the explanation you need:
Mahindra XUV 7XO’s AWD System:

AWD stands for All-Wheel-Drive, a relatively new technology. The AWD system distributes power to all the wheels. That’s it? Wait, there is more to it. This is considered a smarter system than the 4X4. Power is not constantly delivered to all the wheels. Your Mahindra 7XO SUV might behave like a traditional Front Wheel Drive car most of the time. But when you hit slippery roads during monsoons or decide to explore a gravel trail on your way to a weekend getaway, your rear wheels also get in action. All of this is done by the car itself; you don’t need to react. Once the 7XO senses that you are out of the situation, the power automatically shifts back to the front wheels. To tackle rough terrain, the XUV 7XO also comes equipped with features such as the Davinci damping suspension system and a 540-degree camera, allowing you to see underneath your car.
Mahindra Scorpio N’s 4X4 System:

Yes, the Scorpio’s 4X4 system powers all four wheels too. What’s the difference then? 4X4s are Rear Wheel Drive vehicles in the normal urban environment. But once they are in extreme conditions, such as mud, sand, or deep water, the driver can engage 4X4. The 4X4 powers all four wheels of the SUV. Driver have the manual control over which pair of wheels should be powered. This is made easier by the low-range transfer case, which offers three settings: 2L, 4L, and 4H. The driver has a choice of driving the Scorpio with power being delivered to all four wheels, all the time. In addition, Scorpio N also features a solid axle and ladder-on-frame chassis, further enhancing the off-roading experience.
Which One Should You Get?
Both SUVs have their AWD and 4X4 variants priced between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 30 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The Scorpio’s 4X4 system is more capable off-road than the AWD system of the 7XO. On the other hand, 7XO offers a better driving experience on your long highway journeys. If you’re looking for something more serious towards the trails and to support your adventures, then you should definitely consider the Scorpio. But if driving around the city and long highway journeys are the sole purpose of your SUV, and you occasionally encounter gravel patches, then 7XO will be the right choice for you.
Which one will you pick?
