Mahindra Bolero Facelift Price 9 Lakhs* Expected Launch 2026

Mahindra have been the pioneer of the SUV segment for quite some time now. The Armada was one of the first SUVs to go on sale in the Indian market. And later, the Bolero and Scorpio captured this segment. Mahindra was dominating the SUV segment with the Bolero throughout the 2000s, especially in rural areas.

The Bolero has been a consistent seller since its launch in the early 2000s, and Mahindra hasn’t changed the recipe since then. It got minor updates in the feature list to keep it fresh. However, now Mahindra has bigger plans for the Bolero, and here is what you should know.

Looks

A few months ago, a test mule was spotted on Indian roads, which we assume is the next-generation Bolero. Despite multiple facelifts, the outgoing Bolero closely resembled the original. The new Bolero has gotten a completely new look. It retains the overall boxy stance but has gained some muscle. You could easily mistake this camouflaged version for a Land Rover Defender.

Other notable aesthetic features include a tail-mounted spare wheel and flush door handles. The flush door suggests that Mahindra will offer the Bolero as a premium SUV. This would be a particularly surprising move since the Bolero has always been popular in rural settings. Customers who buy the Bolero want a cheap, rugged SUV, and luxury isn’t their priority.

Cabin

Mahindra unveiled a new range of concept cars that will use its all-new NU_IQ platform. The Vision S is suspected to be the next-gen Bolero. The future of Mahindra interiors was unveiled, and the next-gen Bolero will have a similar cabin. Since this is a concept, the production model’s interiors will be more practical. The interior will match the look of other Mahindra SUVs.

The feature list is expected to be extensive as well. The features would include a 3-screen setup, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, etc. This would be quite a revelation when compared to the outgoing Bolero.

Powertrain

You only get one powertrain as standard on the current model – the 1.5L turbo-diesel mated to a 5-speed manual. The next-gen Bolero would use a similar powertrain, with an AMT gearbox available as an option.

The Bolero is a sub-4m vehicle, which means it qualifies for a tax break compared to larger cars. These cars must have engines smaller than 1.5L for diesel and 1.2L for petrol. Mahindra will ensure the next-generation Bolero gets this tax leeway and thus will use the same engine.

The NU_IQ platform can adapt hybrid, EV and ICE powertrains. The Bolero is also expected to be released with alternative powertrains. Rumours suggest that the EV will be launched shortly after the ICE model.

Rivals

The Bolero will compete in the sub-4m segment. It has no direct rivals as a 7-seater, but it will compete against the Thar, Venue, XUV400, Bolero Neo, Sonet, and the Nexon. The difference between the XUV3XO and the Bolero will be the drivetrain. Bolero will be offered in RWD, unlike the 3X0’s FWD.

Expected Price And Launch

The Bolero is known for its simplicity, which is also one of the reasons why it was so cheap. However, with this facelift, Bolero is set to become plush and premium, which will drive prices up. In metropolitan regions, the Bolero will have many customers. But in rural areas, the decision to make the Bolero won’t be well received. Maybe Mahindra will continue to sell the outgoing Bolero but relaunch it under the Bolero brand with a new name, as with the Neo and Scorpio.

The outgoing Bolero starts at 9.5 lakh rupees and can go up to 11.5 lakh rupees(on-road, Mumbai). With the addition of new features, the price hike is expected to be major. You could expect the Bolero to cost 75 thousand to 1 lakh rupees more with the revisions. Rumours suggest that we could see the new Bolero facelift on Indian roads by late 2026.
