Is TVS Not Confident About Jupiter CNG? » MotorOctane

Back in January this year, TVS showcased the Jupiter CNG – which was clearly an attention puller. Many assumed that this model might be launched by the second half of 2025. But, till now there hasn’t been any advancement in this case. So, what is TVS thinking about? Or is there some other reason why TVS is fearing about?

TVS Jupiter CNG Launch – Is It Coming Or Not?

The TVS Jupiter CNG will be one of the best things that can bless the Indian markets. But there might be a fear amongst the manufacturer. Which had its roots planted in 2024. What’s that? In 2024, Bajaj thrilled the world by launching its and world’s first CNG motorcycle – Freedom 125.

Now, it has been one year since it has been on sale. But the sales number didn’t speak for it. Many thought its failure was due to the less availability of CNG stations – but it is not. There have been several CNG stations set-up even in rural India. So, what was the real reason? It was ignorance – many buyers still don’t know that such motorcycles are on sale currently. That’s majorly as only a CNG product is on sale! CNG is a good idea when it comes to cars – but the motorcycling audience has not yet coped with the idea of CNG bikes.

This can be one of the reasons why TVS is not yet confident about the CNG Jupiter. As they might think, some people might generally buy the 125cc or 110cc models and the CNG version might be another liability after spending extra costs. This might be one of the reasons why TVS is not announcing anything yet about the CNG Jupiter.

Many might also think that as the brand recently launched a new bike. It might be in the dilemma of Jupiter gaining all the popularity and hence result in lowering the sales of the RTX. But, this is not the real thing. The audience that are buying the RTX are completely different from the one that will go for the Jupiter CNG.

Now, this worry might end as another two-wheeler maker has also announced its CNG scooter. And the manufacturer is none other than Suzuki with its Access CNG. The Access CNG will be rivalling the likes of Jupiter CNG in India. As there will be alternate options available, we don’t think that TVS might fall in the same dilemma as Bajaj felt a year back.

Should You Wait?

To wait for the Jupiter CNG or go ahead and buy a normal petrol model instead might be confusing right? Here the answer lies on how long you can wait – if you want a scooter very soon for all your daily hassles, we would suggest going ahead with the normal model. If you are comfortable waiting, then we think in the coming months TVS could announce something about this model.

More About The Jupiter CNG

For those who are hearing this for the first time. The TVS Jupiter’s CNG version will be based on the 125cc of the model. The same engine, the same design – but this time TVS will lose out on offering the segment best under seat storage. All thanks to the CNG tank that will be placed just beside the seat.

The scooter gets a 1.4kg tank for the CNG and a 2-litre tank for petrol. With this setup, TVS is claiming a range of 226km. That’s something really interesting, as the CNG will keep running costs in control and offer good running. But, the users will feel loss in power while on CNG.

Talking about the pricing, we expect the model to be priced between Rs 1.15 lakh and Rs 1.20 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
