New Mahindra SUV Spied?

We recently spotted a Mahindra’s camouflaged SUV standing idle in a parking lot. Despite the heavy wraps, the vehicle’s upright stance, broad shoulder and strong road presence are hard to miss. The silhouette instantly feels familiar, hinting at the test mule to be a refreshed version of the popular Scorpio-N.

From what we can see, the SUV’s basic shape remains unchanged. This suggests that Mahindra is expected to stick to a proven design. However, in the spy shot, we see a little redesign on the bumper with a revised grille. As we move to the sides, we do not see much of a change brought to the car.

A new set of 19-inch alloy wheels is likely to be expected in the top trims, retaining its iconic rugged character.

Interior & Features

The cabin is where we can expect some big changes, considering how the market is currently expecting an advanced cabin as a standard lately. The facelifted Scorpio-N is likely to feature a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with a fully digital instrument cluster. We also expected horizontal AC vents, improved upholstery, and a cleaner dashboard layout.

One thing confirmed from the spy shots is the panoramic sunroof being finally brought to the Scorpio lineup. This signals that Mahindra is trying to attract buyers who now prioritise comfort combined with ruggedness. The facelifted Mahindra Scorpio-N is also expected to receive a new 360-degree camera, improved ADAS features, rear ventilated seats, and other features to go head-to-head with its competitors like the Safari, XUV7XO, Hector Plus and more.

Powertrain

Mechanically, the SUV is expected to remain largely unchanged, carrying the same 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol (200bhp & 370Nm torque) and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine (172bhp & 400Nm torque). These engines will be paired with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic (torque converter) transmissions. The ladder frame chassis is expected to remain, ensuring off-road capability. As expected with an SUV of this size, we expect a 2WD and 4WD drivetrain options.
