Three Scooters, One Big Ambition – Vinfast E-Scooters

VinFast has confirmed that it will bring three of the scooters it currently sells in Vietnam and will come to India: the Evo, Feliz, and Viper. The company has also said these products will be altered to suit local usage conditions.
Initially, these scooters will arrive as CKD units from Vietnam and be assembled at VinFast’s plant in Tamil Nadu. The company has also signed an MoU with the Government of Tamil Nadu for approximately 200 hectares of land at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Thoothukudi to expand its existing facilities, with local manufacturing also being explored for the future.

What Makes Most Sense for India?

With Indian buyers in mind, the Evo is one of the most relevant of the three because of its price. In the Vietnamese market, the Evo is priced at approximately Rs 81,204 at today’s exchange rate. This will make it to compete directly with the Chetak, Ather Rizta and iQube. It gets 12-inch wheels, a neo-retro design, a 770mm seat height, a kerb weight of around 110kg, and a claimed top speed of 70 kmph. It is powered by two 2.4kWh battery packs driving a hub-mounted motor rated at 2.25kW of peak power, and comes with a spacious 35-litre underseat storage, a big practical advantage over the Feliz and Viper, which offer only 10 litres.

Whereas the Feliz and Viper are more performance-oriented. The Viper runs a larger 4.8kWh battery and a more powerful 3kW motor, and is priced at roughly Rs 1.63 lakh in Vietnam, while the Feliz sits at around Rs 96,000 with a 3kWh battery and 2.8kW motor. Both use 14-inch wheels and hub-mounted motors.

Tough Competition? – Vinfast E-Scooters

The Indian electric scooter Market is really competitive. Either you talk about Bajaj Chetak, which has built its reputation on build quality, reliability, and ownership experience. The other TVS iQube, on the other hand, goes big on technology, with connected features, a large touchscreen, and a refined riding experience, making it a favourite among younger, tech-forward buyers. If you’re talking about the Ola S1x, all of them are good scooters.
But to fill this gap, the VinFast Evo offers familiar proportions, strong underseat storage, and potentially aggressive pricing that could appeal to buyers who want something fresh without paying a premium. The Viper, with its edgier styling and larger battery, could target the performance-leaning crowd that currently has limited options in this segment.
