Maruti will expand its portfolio to 28 cars from the current 18 by 2030. With this expansion, the automaker will try to offer cars in several powertrain options – Petrol, CNG, Hybrid and EVs. While it’s too early to speculate anything, looking at the current market situation, we expect the Ertiga might come in a different avatar. Let’s discuss about it –

Maruti Ertiga EV – What’s Coming?


The automaker will be debuting in the EV space with its E-Vitara. Furthermore, it will try to expand the lineup, and amongst them, an electric version of its popular 7-seater could be on the list. Now, the details about the model are scarce at present. But we can always speculate.
Talking about the design, we expect it to be similar to the current model – while boasting some EV specific changes like closed-off grille, new set of alloys and charging slots. Certainly, Maruti will utilize the same silhouette of Ertiga but on an updated architecture supporting EVs. It can be underpinned by the Heartect-e platform, underpinning the e Vitara.

On the inside, the model will boast a good, comfortable space even in the 3rd row, just like the Ertiga. EVs generally being feature-rich, Maruti might offer some premium features from the XL6 to this 3-row EV. Some features expected include – big touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats, wireless charging, wireless connectivity and more in its package.
The battery pack details are not yet shared, but it can equip the base battery pack of 49kWh from the e-Vitara. Although things are at a speculative stage at present, more details will be revealed as we near the launch.

Talking about the launch, while Maruti has just announced the road-map. It is yet to detail out the launch timeline of its upcoming models. However, we expect the model to be launched by 2027, after Maruti sets its foot in the EV segment.
