Kia has been quite innovative in the Indian car market. While the Sonet and Seltos have been hits in their segments, Kia has not refrained from experimenting with its other cars like the Syros, EV6, EV9 and the Carnival. Now this new Kia SUV has been spotted, and what is Kia cooking with it?

New Kia SUV Spotted!

The Kia Syros divided public opinion when it was launched. The looks were criticised by many, but you also got a spacious cabin packed with features. Another reason the Kia Syros couldn’t get a significant share of the market was its pricing, which was higher than the Sonet’s and approached the Seltos’ pricing territory. And now a test mule of the Syros has been spotted. Could Kia already be updating the Syros to improve its sales?
Despite the camouflage, we can tell it’s a Kia Syros EV. No amount of camouflage can conceal the Syros’s boxy stance and quirky headlights. We can spot that it is an EV thanks to the front-fender-mounted charging port. You can also spot new aero-friendly alloys for better aerodynamic efficiency. Except for these two features, it looks identical to its ICE sibling.

Expected Features & Specifications

ICE Syros Interior Used For Reference
The cabin is the one place where the Syros excels. The current ICE version offers an extensive equipment list, including a panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS, rear ventilated seats, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a 360-degree camera, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat, and much more. With the EV, Kia could add a few more features, such as a powered front passenger seat and additional ADAS features, along with EV-specific features like Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology.
The Syros EV will use the same K1 platform as the ICE version. The ICE Syros scored an impressive 5 stars in BNCAP, and Kia won’t be messing around with the recipe. As for the powertrain options, it is expected to be offered with 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery packs. The driving range could range from 400 km to 550 km, depending on the battery pack you choose.

Expected Launch & Pricing

The Syros EV is expected to be launched by mid- to late 2026. Kia would need to price it aggressively to attract some of Windsor EV’s customers. We expect it to be priced between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 22 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The Windsor EV was the bestselling EV last year, and Kia will aim to give it some trouble.
