Hyundai launched Exter in 2023, and within 2 months of launch, it received about 75,000 bookings and sold 100,000 units in the first 13 months. At launch, Hyundai Exter received very positive customer feedback. But in recent times, Hyundai has seen a decline in Exter sales compared to the initial months. To regain the market share, Hyundai is planning to launch a facelift of the Hyundai Exter. This facelift will be included in Hyundai’s plan to sell 26 cars in India by 2030. And if you are looking forward to buying an all-new Hyundai Exter, here is what you need to know:
Key Details

The facelifted Exter’s exterior design is expected to feature changes inspired by higher-segment Hyundai cars, such as the Venue and Creta. Exter can be seen with a sharp design. Minor tweaks are expected to the vehicle, with some revisions to the bumpers and headlights. But it will follow the same stance type as before.
The interiors of the Exter are expected to receive a significant update, with a larger infotainment screen and a digital instrument cluster. The top trims have well-equipped interiors featuring wireless connectivity, but those features are missing in the lower trims. This might change with the facelift, and the wireless tech will be lowered in lower trims as well.
Powertrain

Powertrain options are expected to carry over from the current-generation Hyundai Exter. Featuring only one engine option, the 1.2 L Kappa engine, but two fuel offerings, being the Petrol and Petrol+CNG, producing about 82 HP and 113.8 Nm of torque. Transmission options are also to be carried forward from the current Exter generation, including a five-speed manual and a five-speed automatic. There are 8 hybrid launches lined up in Hyundai’s plan up to 2030. Hyundai might bring the hybrid powertrain to the Exter as well.
Rivals
The major rival to the Hyundai Exter is the Tata Punch. Tata Punch is the best-selling crossover in this segment with similar powertrain options. Another contender in this crossover segment is the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, with the best performance. Other competitors include the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and Citroen C3.
Expected Launch And Pricing

Hyundai is expected to reveal the Exter Facelift by mid-2026, but there is no official statement on it. The current Hyundai Exter is priced between 6.72 lakh and 11.27 lakh (on-road Mumbai). The facelift will be priced slightly higher, about 16 thousand to 35 thousand. Hybrid variants can be priced even higher, making the Exter priced above 11.50 lakh.
