End ‘Illegal Toll Collection’ In 8 Days

Finally, the stretched debate between illegal toll collection has come to a sort. The government has directed to stop collecting such tolls, and even repay the toll amount back to the car owners!

Maharashtra Toll Collection – 

Back in 2025, all the electric vehicle owners were relieved from tolls on three highways – Samruddhi Mahamarg, Mumbai-Pune Expressway and Atal Setu. But who knew, it would rather turn into a test of patience. Even after the announcements, the toll collectors were eventually charging tolls from the electric vehicle owners. The toll collectors stated that they haven’t received any official confirmation to stop collecting tolls from EV owners. 

Some months later after this discussion, an official GR (Government Resolution) was passed, which was sought to be the end of this debate. However, things didn’t happen as they needed to be. And this matter became more intense, and after some time, the EV owners even gave up thinking nothing will happen that way and it was just promotional stuff. 

But this debate was again raised, this time at the state legislature, wherein several MLAs protested against the ‘illegal collection’ of tolls from EV owners. And the speaker has now sought an immediate solution on this matter.

Will It Be Sorted Now?

According to the speaker, the toll collection from the EV owners needs to be stopped within 8 days. The state has even assured that the owners of electric vehicles; charged the toll amount after 23rd May on the exempted highways will be eligible for refunds, on producing legal proof of payments. 

Now, the given timeframe for stopping the collection of toll tax from EVs is said to be of maximum 8 days. But, if this will be the final resort is yet to be seen. This case has seen various turns and neither of them has made regular commuters ‘HAPPY’. But we hope this is the final resort of the things.
