Upcoming Japanese 7-seater

In the 7-seater segment, the Ertiga is the car to beat for all manufacturers. To defeat this popular MPV, Nissan will launch a new 7-seater tomorrow. This upcoming car will be one of the most affordable 7-seaters on the market. Nissan has teased its upcoming 7-seater multiple times, and its initial launch date was postponed, but it’s now closer than ever.
We are talking about the Gravite, Nissan’s all-new 7-seater MPV. The current Nissan lineup only includes 2 cars – the Magnite and the X-Trail, and now it is looking to expand its range with the Gravite and the upcoming Tekton. We expect the Gravite to be priced between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 11 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), making it one of the cheapest 7-seaters in India.

The Gravite is based on the Renault Triber. From the teasers, the Gravite looks similar to the Triber and has a few distinct touches (like a revised grille and alloy wheels) to set it apart from its French counterpart. Nissan has already revealed the interiors, and it looks completely identical to the Triber’s. If not for the Nissan badge on the steering, you wouldn’t notice any differences.
With the Gravite, we expect features like a 7.0-inch instrument cluster, push-button start, cooled glovebox, an 8-inch touchscreen system, a 6-speaker sound system, a rear parking camera, and much more.
It will likely adopt the 1.0-litre petrol engine (71 bhp & 96 Nm) from the Triber. The gearbox options could include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. Nissan is also expected to offer it with a retrofitted CNG system.
