VinFast In India!

VinFast entered the Indian market in January 2025 unveiling their VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs at the Bharat Mobility Expo. As a new global EV brand, it relied heavily on attractive introductory pricing to grab attention in our price sensitive market. Even with some dominant players like Tata, MG, and Mahindra VinFast managed to generate interest and visibility.
However, the recent price hike at this time has surprised many. India still remains extremely price sensitive, and rival EV makers are either holding prices steady or offering additional benefits. So this move might be the biggest gamble for VinFast.

With the new revisions, the VF6’s new starting price is now Rs 18.35 lakh (on-road Mumbai).

On the other hand, the VF7 has seen a steeper price increase compared to the VF6, reinforcing its positioning as a more premium electric SUV. The Earth variant has risen by roughly Rs. 1 lakh, while the Wind and Sky trims have increased by around Rs 1.2 lakh to Rs 1.3 lakh. This pushes the VF7’s entry price to about Rs 23.17 lakh (on-road Mumbai). At this price point, buyers are not just looking for good design and features, but also strong after-sales support.

How VinFast Stacks up Against Rivals
The Indian EV market is becoming fiercely competitive. Tata continues to dominate with aggressive pricing and brand trust with their EV lineup. Meanwhile, MG and Mahindra are also following behind. Agaisnt this backdrop, VinFast’s price hike feels bold.
The brand is clearly betting on design, technology, and a premium experience rather than pure affordability. Whether that bet pays off well depends on how quickly VinFast can expand its charging support, dealerships, and customer trust in India to build credibility.
For those seriously considering a VinFast EV, the hike doesn’t necessarily rule out the VF6 or VF7. The vehicles still offer modern design and good tech over its competitors. VinFast can leverage this inital curiosity into sustained sales, working on how they convince the Indian buyers that its ars are worth paying a little extra for.
